Excellent thumb rest cushion by Yamaha
This Yamaha thumb rest cushion is a snug fit on the thumb rest and provides excellent support and comfort. The synthetic black rubber like material is soft and pliable and is just slightly larger in diameter than the thumb rest. My own preference is for the Protec thumb rest cushion (available direct from Amazon), which is of a larger diameter and an even softer material than the Yamaha, providing even better support and comfort, yet an equally snug fit. However, the greater size of the Protec cushion can be a problem in clarinet cases that do not allow much depth beneath the thumb rest, and the Protec cushion is translucent rather than black.UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW: Now that I have used both the Yamaha and Protec thumb rest cushions for some months now, I actually have a slight preference for the Yamaha cushion over the Protec. I find the firmer material and smaller size of the Yamaha cushion to actually be more comfortable and less distracting. I also have found that most...

Yamaha Clarinet Thumb Rest Cushion
It was well made, and fit my clarinet with no problem. It easy on the thumb. I am happy with it. I used it on my Buffet E13, and it worked. It may be small, but on the long run I am thankfull I have one.

works just as well as the more expensive brands
I was renting to own a new vito clarinet, one of the more expensive brands, original price $897. at $59.24/mth for 21 mths total cost being $1,072.47. I thought why am i paying this much for a clarinet?well I wasn't I was paying for the name. so I decided to search my favorite website AMAZON of course and I ran accross the conductor Bb clarinet for $99 bucks and I thought yea right, whats the catch? but I put my skepticism to the side and took a chance. to my surprise it works just as well as the vito and still is! my daughter whos 11 now loves it. So if you are looking for a very good clarinet for a much cheaper price the conductor is a wonderful choice. dont waste your money buying a name. I recommend this for the new buyers especially.

Good Looking Clarinet... Good for the Price...
Its a nice clarinet, comes in a small box, with a polishing cloth, cleaning cloth, cork grease in a little circle thingy (haha) , and a size 3 reed.There is not a lot of space inside the box to carry all these things, you kind of have to shove them in there.The sound it makes sounds kind of weird when it hits the high notes, you need to spend some time tuning it.I bought it for my college band class, and id say over all for the price i am very satisfied with the product and would recommend it.

YCL-250 Bb provides solid value for a student clarinet
We bought the YCL-250 clarinet in 2005 for our daughter as she started band at school. My online research then indicated that this instrument, though not the cheapest option, was highly recommended for beginners. We compared it against a few other similarly priced pieces, but this Yamaha clarinet had the best fit and finish at this price point. Its case was also much better than others that we viewed. It still plays well and we have not had to incur any repairs on it. If I was looking for a student clarinet today, I would pick another YCL-250.

An excellent starter clarinet
I originally had purchased a beginning wooden Selmer clarinet when I first started music in the 6th grade. Once I got to high school, I bought one of these since I had to march outside. It's a very durable instrument and has a good sound considering it's plastic. I'm now in a college marching band and the clarinet is 5 years old, but still plays very well well. The keywork is also very good for a starter clarinet (at least mine was, anyway). The metal is durable enough that it won't bend from normal use, even after many years. Highly recommended.

Very good mouthpiece.
Mouthpiece takes some getting used to, but afterwards, it works extremely well.The only reason why it's rated four stars is because the ligature that I am using doesn't fit that well on this mouthpiece. The ligature fits perfectly on my old one, just not this brand new.All in all, very nice mouthpiece. Recommend buying for intermediates.
