Product Description

With the introduction of the Nord Electro 3, the legacy of the original Electro and the knowhow that have shaped some of the other Nord models have been combined. The Electro 3 features a new organ section, a new piano section, new effects and a new exciting feature that allows the Electro 3 to use any samples from the Nord Sample library. This is the performance keyboard that sets a new standard based on its impressive sound quality. Right from the start, the Electro 3 is loaded with a great selection of pianos. There are three acoustic grands (two Yamaha* C7s and one Steinway* D) and two electric grands. Electric piano aficionados will love the tine-based types; a Mk I, a Suitcase Mk I, a Mk II and a Mk V all with their unique and distinctive personalities. A great Wurlitzer* A200 is of course present, as is the mighty Clavinet* D6. The Clavinet type also includes the Harpsichords. There is a French harpsichord in the factory sound bank, and more to come in the Nord Piano Library download area. Each and every one of these pianos can be replaced if you wish. Not only loaded with great piano sounds, the Electro 3 also sports some great samples to add flavor to your sonic arsenal. You'll find some of the classic Mellotron sounds, a selection of strings, a celeste, a vibraphone and many others. You can add virtually any sound you want to the Nord Electro 3. Sounds that we offer for free are from the Mellotron Library or any other instrument from the expanding and extensive Nord Sample Library, which is the same format as the Nord Wave uses. The Organ Section of the Electro 3 has the best emulation of the soul of a B3 available so far. The attention to minute details is stunning, the Electro 3 is even equipped with four selectable tonewheel modes, that stretches from a clean sound to battered unit with the most dramatic setting; vintage 3. This setting even produces a sound in the background of its own, even if you don't touch any keys. Every function in a B3 has been considered and examined in great detail, to make the Electro 3 as true to the original sound as possible. There are key clicks derived from the original busbar behavior and the energy robbing that produces the gentle compression when you do that massive palm smear across the keyboard. To get the response right, we have included the option to trigger the organ sounds at the very top of a key's range, making it react just as fast as the original. And sometimes we couldn't resist adding functions that went a bit further, like the option to either include or exclude the 9th drawbar when Percussion was activated. The Farfisa* and Vox* models are just as impressive as the B3. The massive savage sound created by their 12-top oscillator frequency-divider designs is of course also a nosample zone in the Electro 3; you have the same behavior and unique response from our models as in the original instruments. Using the Organ Split mode, you can play two different organ registrations in a dual manual fashion, one sound on either side of a user definable keyboard split point. Connect a second MIDI keyboard to the Electro 3, to use the organ split functionality, but in a true, dual manual setup. The Nord Electro 3 is also equipped with a great selection of high quality effects including a lush sounding reverb with five different algorithms. There is also a selection of tremolo, panning, wah-wah, phaser, flanger and chorus effects, and a ring modulator. And, those of you who are picky about the rotary behaviors will be pleased to find several user adjustable settings like speed and acceleration times for both treble and bass rotors. These options, as well as all the other System, MIDI and Sound Menu functions are written on the right side of the panel, a great help for all those moments when the manual decided to stay at home. The Electro 3 comes in two different sizes. The 61 and the 73 have the same type of semi-weighted keyboard with the waterfall profile. This is a great set of keys to play organ and pianos with. The Nord Vintage Sounds Can't Be Beat, Great Board!
This instrument has amazing organ and electric piano sounds to say the least. The B3 organ sound is very close to my Hammond XK3 which is known to be the best digital organ in the business. The Fender Rhodes Mark I, II, III & IV Models are amazingly accurate to the real ones, I know since I have played a Mark II and compared both boards, and in fact the real one needed some work and didn't sound as good. The Rhodes Mark II, & IV used with the tremolo effect is simply over the top and will impress anyone who loves the real Rhodes Pianos, especially other musicians. The Clavinet and sound effects are incredible, the wah-wah effect really sounds good when used in conjunction with the Clavinet and can really get quick attention in a rock band. The guitars can take a long break when a good player knows how to use these effects, sorry guitar players. The Farfisa and Vox especially can really shrill and make the hairs on your neck stand up, and for people...

Best Keyboard ever.
You need the sounds, and you want them in less than 20lbs? Here you go. The sounds are great. The organ is perfect. Just played my first gig with it and it sounded amazing- blended in perfectly with the other instruments. Organ cut through the guitars when it needed to and added background beef when appropriate. It's pricey, but I've yet to see a product as good as this.I read a review of it somewhere that complained about the fact that it was red: That's just stupid. You might be worried about the action- the keys are not weighted, but compared to all the over-easy synths I've played the action is great.

Customer Review

Great Instrument for the price.
Amazon is, perhaps, not the best forum for this review, but what the hoo. I've done so many reviews here that i may as well not stop now.I acquired this instrument about a month ago and have taken it through its paces (including updates). You'll read elsewhere that the SV-1's sounds are mostly superb with the minor disappointment being its organ sounds. I do agree with those reviews and because of the updates I've been able to replace some of the sounds. The two transistor organs (the Vox Continental and Farfisa) are history. I have no need for 'em. The 6 organ sounds I now use are three of the Hammond jazz type and three of the 3/4 to full bar/registration type. In essence I can go from Jimmy Smith/John Paul Jones cool to Jon Lord/Rick Wakeman thunder.I haven't replaced the stock pianos (Yamaha C7 & Steinway) because they sound fine - not great but fine. I still recommend these ppianos because I've auditioned several hi-end sampled pianos and NONE of them...

Korg sv-1 88 keys=boss
I won't give a detailed review on this as they can be found everywhere. I've almost had this keyboard for a year playing gigs almost every week. I'm a jazz pianist and VERY picky about playing on electric pianos. This set of keys takes the cake. I've played on loads of keyboards, but nothing feels quite as nice nor sounds quite as good as this one. The acoustic piano sounds are phenomenal and the electric sounds are fantastic (I LOVE the drive option). If you're a jazz musician, i highly recommend this. It's super durable, amazing sound quality (assuming you've got decent amplification, stereo being the best), plus it's sexy as hell. Although stereo amplification sounds the best, a nice piano amp will do in a pinch. I've got a Roland kc 550 that works fantastic (i even plug a mic into it as well if we have a singer!). Well there's my two cents. Get it.

Great Flexibility with this Combo Stage Piano and Midi Controller
Got this for my husband's birthday a year ago. He fell in love with it and it has been such an inspiration with his current album. We live in an upstairs apartment, and an upright standard piano is not an option, so this has been a wonderful compromise. We've had no problems with keys or electronics. The included sustain pedal works like a charm. The onboard sounds are an excellent bonus (some of the best you'll hear, even in electric pianos costing $1000 more), but we use Reason, ProTools M-Powered, and additional midi packages to give us nearly limitless quality sounds (e.g., the Abbey Road package). Regarding the weighted keys, I was nervous about this and had my husband actually try out the playability at a local music store first. Turns out that we both prefer this weighting style to the standard light or no weighted keyboards like the Yamaha he'd be using for midi before. Try it first if you can, though, because it is definitely more like a standard piano - but just...

ProKeys 88 pulls out all the stops in creating the ultimate playing experience in an affordable digital stage piano.

Ultra-Realistic Piano
Our goal in designing the ProKeys 88 was to create an extremely musical and realistic piano experience. The caliber of a digital piano is greatly influenced by the quality and the size of the samples, so we started by giving the ProKeys 88 a generous amount of memory. Then, rather than dividing it up amongst a bunch of sounds you're not likely to use, we focused on the 14 sounds that are the bread and butter for many keyboardists--paying special attention to the stereo grand piano.

Incorporates a full USB MIDI interface that communicates with your computer via a USB connection.

Experiment with different effects on the ProKeys 88 to create signature sounds of your own.

Sustain, sostenuto, and expression pedal jacks--all MIDI assignable.

More Than a Stage Piano
The ProKeys 88 delivers all the staple keyboard sounds needed by many musicians. Its flagship stereo grand is supplemented by an alternate grand designed to really cut through in popular music. The ProKeys 88 has electric pianos covered too. And the Clavinet brings one word to mind: "funky." Acoustic and electric basses give you the option of layering a ride cymbal for jazz tunes. Vibes, ensemble strings and an inspiring warm, lush synth pad round out a great sonic palette for the gigging keyboardist.

88-Key Hammer Action
Of course, a realistic digital stage piano must have a full 88 keys that are properly weighted. The ProKeys 88's full-range clavier features hammer action that feels just like the real thing. It features three velocity curves tailored to different touches, as well as a fixed velocity for synth work.

Splits and Layers
The ProKeys 88 keyboard also features split and layer capabilities. Put a bass in your left hand and keys in your right. Chord with an organ while playing a piano lead. Layer lush strings over a piano. You can even have a split and layer simultaneously for a total of three sounds at once.

Control Your DAW
When it comes to communicating with the outside world, most digital stage pianos offer little more than a MIDI jack. In sharp contrast, the ProKeys 88 inherits much from M-Audio's years of experience pioneering mobile MIDI controllers. It incorporates a full USB MIDI interface that communicates with your PC or Mac via a single, simple USB connection--perfect for recording with virtually all MIDI sequencer software on the market. (The instrument features class compliancy with Windows XP and Mac OS X without installation of additional drivers.) You can even control your sequencer remotely via front-panel Start, Stop and Tempo buttons.

MIDI In and Out jacks allow full communication with all standard MIDI gear as well. The ProKeys 88 also features performance controls that are rare on digital stage pianos, including pitch wheel, modulation wheel, two footswitch inputs, and expression pedal input. The three different ranges available via the ProKeys 88's combined split and layer functions can each transmit on a separate MIDI channel as well. You also get dedicated front-panel buttons for program change, channel, bank MSB, bank LSB and local on/off.

Built-in Effects
There's no need to mess around with additional gear to add basic effects to your ProKeys 88. On-board EQ lets you easily tweak the tone on the fly. You also get three different built-in reverb spaces that simulate different acoustic environments. Chorus fattens up sounds like the electric pianos and basses. And what's a vintage Wurlitzer electric piano without tremolo? Experiment with different effects on the ProKeys 88 to create signature sounds of your own.

Full Pedal Complement
Every digital piano has a sustain pedal jack. But what about the sostenuto pedal (the middle pedal on an acoustic piano)? ProKeys 88 has it. There's also an expression pedal for foot-control of volume. And all three of these pedals serve as MIDI controllers for outboard gear as well.

Headphones and Pro Audio Outputs
Ever need to practice privately? ProKeys 88 includes a 1/4-inch stereo headphone jack so you can play without anyone else hearing you--at home or at a sound check. Of course, it wouldn't be an M-Audio product without high-fidelity 1/4-inch unbalanced audio output with specs like 20Hz-20kHz frequency response and 108dB dynamic range.

What's in the Box

Mixed
The Piano sound is truly the best sound you can find for even under $1000, and this is only $500.Thats the good news. The other sounds are ok, the organ sounds being the worst, and the electric piano being the best non-piano sounds. The worst part (and the reason i wouldnt buy it again) is the touch. If you plan on just pounding out chords, itll be fine, but if you play classical, jazz, or even most pop-styles that require a bit of touch, you will hate this piano. They say it is "Hammer-Action" but really they should be called "way-over-weighted". These are the heaviest keys i have ever played, and I wish i would have played it before i bought it online.

Awesome...
I actully ordered this keyboard off zzounds.com.they give you a free stand and pedal with the purchase. $599 total.I had a casio with about 66 keys... i wanted something with awesome sound quality that i could take to a nice hotel and just set up and play...i also wanted something that could hook up to my macbook as a midi controller.this thing is awesome. yes the keys seem heavy, but to me it just feels like im really playing a piano...if u are running through hanon finger exercises your forearms will tire... but i guess its like that with all finger exercises...seems to me like the weight of the keys is just surprising to say the least b/c you dont really know if its a keyboard you are playing or an actual piano.ok so pros: i actully like the organ sound... if you listen to medeski martin and wood, you will like it too... it sounds almost the exact same... i think all of the sounds are really good actully... its a...

Brand new retail version of the software for under $50!
I was reluctant on buying this at first. The price was about 80% cheaper then the other sellers. I thought if it goes bad I always have Amazon to help me get my money back. There was no need for this though. I got the software, and it was brand new, and sealed! I was scared this would be some pirated copy, or just a knock off. I got it, and it is completely legit. Saved a fortune by taking a chance. I am very glad to have this software. It has some great options, and it is very fun to play with on my computer. Just make sure you have good audio on your computer. What a great deal!
