Minus an annoying glitch, this game rules.
I finally got my chance to get this a couple days ago, and so far I'm very impressed with it.First, I'll talk about the new guitar controller and explain to you why this (or the super bundle) is completely worth it. The new guitar is sleek. All the electronics in the controller are built into the center, enabling the body itself to be completely interchangeable. I doubt I'll ever personally make use of that feature, but it's neat nonetheless. The Wii remote is inserted into a spot on the neck where the touch-pad would have been. By the way, I'm VERY happy that Activision did away with the touch-pad. I often found it to be cumbersome, overly sensitive and overall useless. This new guitar also has an improved strum bar. It's a bit smaller, it takes getting used to, but in the end it's worth it because once you get used to it, you find that it allows you to focus on the faster guitar parts that approach as the game nears its finish. Overall, one of my favorite guitar...

great for the money
I bought this guitar as a second one so if someone wanted to play bass we would have it. Our first guitar is Guitar Hero 5 so to compare the two i did some measuring. Guitar hero 5 guitar is approx. 2 inches longer and the base is about 1 inch larger than this one. Not really a problem. I read all reviews prior to buying this so to address the loudness of the clicking when you strum, it's louder than our other one but not really a bother to us because we usually play all our music games fairly loud. I just tested all our games with this guitar and it works with the following: Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero-Legends of Rock, Band Hero, Guitar Hero-World Tour, Rock Band 3, Lego Rock Band, Rock Band-The Beatles. This guitar also worked in multiplayer mode with our the other guitar.

SOMEWHAT Fully Compatible...READ FOR DETAILS!
Just got this guitar...It would appear the product description is not entirely accurate. The guitar is not recognized on Rock Band 1 for the Wii (it also did not work on Rock Band Track Pack Volume 2). That being said, the guitar works perfectly on Beatles Rock Band. I have not tried it with any of the Guitar Hero titles or other Rock Band titles.I would love to hear other people's findings on this guitar. I REPEAT--THIS GUITAR DOES NOT WORK ON WII ROCK BAND 1 OR ROCK BAND TRACK PACK VOLUME 2. It works on Wii Beatles Rock Band. I'm interested in seeing if it'll work for Band Hero or the other Wii titles that utilize the guitar peripheral. It looks like I'm going to have to break down and buy the official guitars for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Fun for the whole band!!
This may be Guitar Hero, but in our house it's 'Band Hero'!! I bought this because I loved the song list and found out after I received it that it works with the whole band, bonus! Great game and challenging too! I don't know if this is normal, but it took us a few tries to figure out how to get the whole band logged in and make it start. I finally had to press and hold the + button to get it to go.

Trying to decide between GHWT and RB2 for a family?
Since I have both games, I'll highlight the differences. First off, I bought this primarily for my kids and I to play together (I have two daughters, 6 and 14 years old).GHWT has a "strum only" mode, so its difficulty levels are offset from those on Rockband 2 (Easy on RB2 is a bit harder than Beginner on GHWT, but easier than Easy on GHWT, for example). Singing seems to be a bit more difficult on GHWT than on RB2. The difference between difficulty of playing bass and lead guitar is greater on GHWT than on RB2 (in RB2, there are some quite difficult bass songs, whereas on GHWT every song seems much easier on bass than on lead). In both games, drumming is MUCH harder than any of the other parts. At the lower levels on RB2, singing is dead easy.RB2 allows you to set up stand-ins for your computer-controlled players, so you can have the same band members when everyone isn't playing (for example, on very difficult songs my youngest will sit out, but I can still...

Start a Band...the Guitar Hero Way

Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero's signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines advanced wireless instruments with online and offline gameplay modes including online Band Career and 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems.

*Note: The instruments are sold seperately.

The Whole Band

Be the Next Great Songwriter

Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks.

Create the Band

Budding rock stars can live out their rock ‘n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time.

Never Jam Solo Again

Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy.

A Game Play Mode Just for the Wii

Jump into the "Mii Freestyle" game play mode that is unique to the Wii. Create Blues, Rock or Metal masterpieces by yourself, or join with friends to jam freely together on guitar controllers and the drum kit controller.

Customize Everything

The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers.

A Set List for the Ages

The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. There are over 85 tracks, plus frequent downloadable singles and track packs. A Mix of Strengths and Weaknesses
Having played Rock Band and RB2 at a friend's house for some time, we were waiting with great anticipation for GHWT as our first rhythm game purchase. I have to say that my feelings about the game are mixed now that I have played it a bit. I like quite a few of the songs, and I like the bass guitar and lead guitar parts fine, although they do raise the difficulty level from previous GH titles. My chief frustration with the game is its vocal part. It is MUCH more difficult than RB's vocal part, and I think the way that it scores vocal performance leaves very little room for error, even at the "easy" setting. The mix seems off in many songs, making it hard to hear well enough to sing correctly, and the "freestyle" parts can be very annoying when you know perfectly well that there isn't supposed to be any vocal track in that part of the song and you have to make up something just to fill up the empty space (honestly, RB's cowbell/tambourine part makes much more sense)...

A must own Wii title
World Tour is easily the best music game to be issued for Wii yet. While the game itself on all platforms has some issues with how group play is dealt with (the real strength, OTOH, of RockBand) and a few other minor problems, the Wii version is easily the best of the bunch. Why? For one, it can easily satisfya wii owner's possible curiousity (if any) regarding Wii Music w/ World Tour's Mii Freestyle mode. Similir in implementation to Wii Music, the real difference is that unlike Music, you actually "create" music using pre-existing loops/rhythms based on how/where your control is oriented/buttons used. Works w/ or w/o guitar controllers. Surpasses the Wii Music idea by actually giving players "a point" or goal to acheive, but in a similar control manner. And does so as an essentially tacked-on Wii minigame. My 6 yr old tried Freestyle drums (using Wiimote & nunchuck). She loved it!!It's the 1st Wii music game to allow group online play -...

Some flaws, but overall a great game
I come to Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii having played Guitar Hero 2 on the PS2 at Expert difficulty. Sometimes formula can be a bad thing, other times it's not. This is one of those "not" times. The game plays basically the same as its predecessor, and on top of that it's got a better set list. After reaching 5-star level on nearly all the songs at Expert difficulty in Guitar Hero 2, I found that the list of songs that I actually just enjoyed playing was very short. That's not so much the case with Guitar Hero 3, which has a larger collection of songs that are both fun to play and to listen to.There are flaws, though. It seems to me that the new developers decided that they needed to tweak the Hammer On/Pull Off controls a little, and the result of this tweaking was that there were many times throughout the game where I instinctively didn't strum because two notes were close together, but one of the notes inexplicably required you to strum. Although this increases...

Rocks So Hard It May Hurt Itself!!
I've never played the previous games in this series but this game is addictive! The Wii remote is easy to tuck into the guitar and the tutorial is pretty easy. Instead of strings you have a bar you push corresponding to how fast the notes move. I've never strummed guitar, my husband has. And I'm thrashing him at this game! You work you're way up from a garage band, earning money along the way that you can spend in the games store for goodies like new outfits, real songs from around the world, and extra characters.Your current playlist is good with songs everybody knows even if their a poptart. You may even get asked to do an encore! My one gripe is their aren't that many chick songs, at least not on the levels I've played. If you can find a second guitar remote you can rock head to head, which I plan to do with the spouse. I'll need to find a pink faceplate though. The makers said they'd have alternate fronts, so here's hoping. The guitar/remote is about the...

Life in Mono
Guitar Hero 3 is great, however there are some problems with this particular version.First, let me point out the obvious. This is the first and only Guitar Hero game for any Nintendo system. Currently only has been released for Wii, there are no plans for any of the three other Guitar Hero games will come to Wii. In other words this is the only game in town for GH on the Wii and sadly the game plays songs only in Mono. This means if you have a fancy surround system, the music would only come out of the center speaker. You can rig it up so that the same mono sound comes out of other speakers, but that is not even an approximation of Dolby Pro Logic II. This is a negative, but shouldn't really prevent anyone from picking this game up.The game itself is still as good as...

Legends of Rock is a music game with great music, turning plastic guitar shredding into a real blast
When Harmonix left Guitar Hero to start Rock Band, Activision and Neversoft had some catching up to do. They didn't really have experience in making music games, and suddenly they had a franchise to work with that could potentially make them oodles of money. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (GHIII) is the first main series Guitar Hero game from the new companies, and it turned out to be a great game that is still the best Guitar Hero game to date, in my opinion. For those of you who don't know, Guitar Hero's gameplay involves players using a guitar controller with a strum bar and five fret buttons, and as notes come down the on-screen highway the player needs to strum while holding the correct fret button in time with the notes. It sounds easy until you try and do it yourself, and then you realize just how fun and challenging it is. It gets even more fun as you get better at it too, and with time you can be shredding some awesome guitar riffs with that plastic controller...

Good Music and Fun
This game seems like a good choice for young and old. My nephew and brother have a great time jamming out to some rock and roll classics. Most songs are easy to follow for a novice player, but some songs are more challenging. My nephew (10yrs old) was happy with the gift and enjoys playing it with his friends... so I guess it was worth it.
