Vintage Guitar book 2012
As always, excellent work by the magazine I love. There still are some photos that are not correct with description, but this is for values not vital guitar info. A must have for collectors. Highly recommended.

Great Guitar
Every now and then something comes along that surprises you and makes you smile. This guitar will do that. I'm a 51 year old guitar player and I've played in dance bands since the mid 70's. I like the saying "One can never have too many guitars". I have about a dozen or so and about half of them are big name 2500+ models. I wanted a 000 size to leave out so I could pick it up anytime inspiration strikes. Finding a decent guitar for not alot of money is tough, then trying to find it online without hearing it is a real task. I searched all over and finally clicked on this one.It arrived double boxed in great shape. I took it out and tuned it up and it sounded great. Mine came with a hang tag stating it was strung with D'Addario strings which are my favorite. The tuners are nice and smooth, after the strings settled in it is holding tune very well. I was impressed that this model cam with a bone nut and saddle. This is very important for a good tone. Most lesser expensive...

good guitar for the money
I just received this guitar and so far I am well pleased with the purchase. It arrived via Fedex double boxed and in perfect condition. Even the box looked like it had been handled with care. The setup was decent and after a quick tune up I was playing it. I was amazed at how easy it was to play although there was a little buzz on the B string on the second fret. The 1 3/4 nut width is perfect for me as I like a little wider neck. The solid spruce top was tight grained. I am really impressed with the bone nut and saddle that is not usually found on guitars at this price. The tuners work well and seem to be of a decent quality for an inexpensive guitar. The sound is nice and gentle with plenty of volume for a concert/parlor size body. The finish on my example is adequate but not spectacular. The gloss finish really seems to me more like a satin and in certain light conditions I can see some small areas where the finish is thinner than other places on the body. The finish is not too...

Recording King 000 style guitar
I have a problem with this guitar... I CANT PUT IT DOWN!!! For the money this IS a Fantastic instrument!! It came with D'addario strings, nicely packaged, and after tuning her up I discovered a Brilliant and clear solid wood guitar tone that you would expect to pay Alot for!! I am a die-hard Martin guy so when I wanted a 000 style guitar I looked around and happen to find it here, I don't have $1500.00 for a Martin 000 so I ordered this one and I figured I could yard sale it if I didn't like it....Well long story short, This one is staying right here!! It's playability and the solid wood body, and back, bone nut and saddle make it Very easy to play!! The neck is big but not too much, but I have big hands...If your looking for a starter or an addition to your collection that looks just as good as it plays, this is the one, I love the matte finish, because I have found over the years that gloss finishes tend to be sticky when your playin hard and sweaty...my opinion anyway, I will...

Customer Review

Exceptional bargain entry level
At a buck under $200, this is a great bargain and a quality entry-level acoustic guitar. The finish is of very high quality and the sound is quite nice. The action is also better than one could hope for in a $199 guitar and the tuning pegs are excellent. It holds its tune very well, even with brand new strings (according to the Korg GA electronic tuner that I bought at the same time). An added bonus is the well made fake leather hard case that is also a bargain at the price. I'm sure more experienced guitarists could find fault and I'm sure a $1000-plus guitar would be better made/sound better, but this is a great place to start. The sunburst finish is very nice. Amazon handled the transaction flawlessly also.

well worth the price.
The description I read did not state that a Fender hard case comes with it! The guitar is gorgeous. The Quality check tag dates the guitar to '03. The finish was a little dusty, but perfect. I paid a buck fifty with free shipping. Even two hundred would be worth it.

Great deal for the price
Overall I've got to say this is a pretty good deal for under $200. If you are looking for a quality beater or a first guitar then this would fit the bill perfectly. I got it as a time killer since i'm overseas for a few months and was amazed to have it show up a week early, in perfect condition. The case was much better than expected and was packed in a big cardboard box so no worries about travel there.Overall: Paint is good with no chips or cracks. A nice sunburst and well finished binding and absolutely no traces of glue or damage. The neck is set well and the frets are in good shape with none hanging over the edge of the neck. Inlays are good to go too. The tuning pegs are better than some expensive guitars I own and I amazed at how well this cheap guitar stays in tune. I would replace the stock strings as soon as possible and work to adjust the neck once new ones are on.Included was a spare bridge, bridge peg and a truss rod allen key. They also...

Vintage guitars like a Martin may require optimum care to preserve its finish and delicate body. What more if you have a turn of the century vintage Martin guitar.

“I’m definitely not the most skilled player that’s ever touched that guitar, but some of those little scratches I make from playing with a pick … I like being a part of that guitar’s history. The guitar was refinished in the ‘60s, according to the singer, before it became truly “vintage.

Vintage 1969 Martin 00-18 flat top acoustic guitar. Firstly, as is the case with most Martins from this era, the original black plastic pickguard is peeling up, and while this does not affect the guitar, it is somewhat unattractive. Secondly, there are a few severe cracks near the waist of the guitar, as well as, one small one near the bottom by the strap pin. Although this guitar is structurally fine and sounds particularly good, there are a few issues that need to be addressed. Though they don’t appear to affect the integrity or sound of the guitar, they obviously need to be mentioned.

The guitar is currently playable, but a neck reset must be considered when placing a bid on this guitar, as it is necessary to restore the guitar to perfect playing/functional condition. As touched upon briefly, the guitar was recently purchased from a gentleman in Bakersfield, CA: home to some of Country music’s greats and the guitar luthiers whom helped them achieve such. The guitar includes the original green-interior Lifton hard case, several original bridge pins, and miscellaneous vintage string packages. Vintage 1947 Martin 000-28 flat-top acoustic guitar. And while little is known about left-handed “Ron” and his creatively customized Martin 000-28, it was explained that Semie Moseley of Mosrite had painted the guitar its current sunburst color, in addition to, custom fabricating matching double... Also, the guitar was rather simply configured from right-handed to left-handed, with respect to the nut only, which means it is currently more conducive to right-handed playing, is strung for such, and includes an extra nut that was used when it... Sure old original guitars are great, but it’s unique customized vintage gems like this that achieve an additional status as a piece of Americana artwork.
