Every badge, every color, every little change is listed!!!
I don't know how long it took this guy to dig out all this detail, but I'm glad he did. This book gives all the production "clues" for dating druums from 1928 to 1985.

Slingerland Drums

The Slingerland marching drums are popularly used in marching bands, drum corps and colleges not only in the US but all throughout the world. Slingerland drums are better known as marching drums. If you want to purchase a drum under the brand Slingerland, finding one during these days may be tough. In order to keep up with the competition, Gibson pushed their luck in offering the Slingerland drums in the market once again. For several years, Slingerland drums have been associated with jazz music. The tom’s measure up to 16 inches in diameter with 6 ply shell while the bass drums are up to 18 inches in diameter with 8 ply floor toms. Signature series like the Gene Krupa have their signature plates placed in the bass drum with Pearl white as the only available colour. During the 1970s, the brand introduced the TDR marching snare drum. They gained more popularity when the drum corps used these equipment in the 1970s to the early 1980s.
