Outstanding Student clarinet
I am a beginner adult student. After taking my first few classes, I decided to buy a modest clarinet to replace the rental.Out of the many options available in the market, I decided to go for a well known designer/manufacturer (Selmer) building these inexpensive instruments in China.To the best of my surprises, the Prelude CL711 sounds much better than the rental (Armstong) at a very reasonable price tag (equivalent to 10 months rental)...If you decide to make a similar move, consider buying a good ligature to replace the factory-included metal one... (the best $15 spent in my musical life)I believe it was a very good decision... My next step will be to replace the original plastic mouthpiece for a rubber-made one (spending an extra $80)AlecG

GREAT QUALITY FOR A GREAT PRICE
I love it. For the price I paid I couldn't ask for more. I didn't want an expensive clarinet that I couldn't even take care of. It is easy to take care of, the sound is great, the case is really cool,... I would definitely buy it again.

great clarinet!
I am in 9th grade and i have been playing clarinet and alto saxophone since the 5th grade, and I am 1st chair. (our band just went to a festival and we came in first!)i wanted to get my own clarinet, so i bought this one, used, for two-hundred dollars. I know my music, and this clarinet has great tone, is good quality, and is reliable. i haven't had it for very long so i will be back with an update after awhile.It came with a new dri-bore swab and some cork grease, 2 barrels, and of course the rest of the clarinet. i really like how it does not look like its plastic even though it is. the case it comes with is nice too. the case is black with yellow trim, has a small zip pocket on the top, and has straps tucked in a pocket on the back so you could wear it as a backpack if you wanted to.I am very happy with my purchase so far and I am glad i bought the used one and saved 100 bucks, its in like-new condition.the case has just the right amount of storage...

works just as well as the more expensive brands
I was renting to own a new vito clarinet, one of the more expensive brands, original price $897. at $59.24/mth for 21 mths total cost being $1,072.47. I thought why am i paying this much for a clarinet?well I wasn't I was paying for the name. so I decided to search my favorite website AMAZON of course and I ran accross the conductor Bb clarinet for $99 bucks and I thought yea right, whats the catch? but I put my skepticism to the side and took a chance. to my surprise it works just as well as the vito and still is! my daughter whos 11 now loves it. So if you are looking for a very good clarinet for a much cheaper price the conductor is a wonderful choice. dont waste your money buying a name. I recommend this for the new buyers especially.

Play a low G, add the register key to produce the D a twelfth above and check the pitch of both notes; they should register as in tune. Do the same with low A and middle E, low Bb and middle F, low Bn and middle F#. Great student instrument
This is first time I am playing the hard rubber and not wooden clarinet but I am positively surprised with the sound. It is for beginners and students with smaller fingers. I hope it will make my children to become interested in playing.

Very nice!
I received the new Selmer Clarinet for my son very quickly. On first inspection, the quality appears as good as the rental Selmer from the school's supplier and at this price it will save us quite a bit before the school year ends. Included with this model are two barrel joints - useful later on after he learns the other registers. Also include is a canvas case, much lighter than the hard plastic cases but with a dense foam lining that should protect it just as well so long as it's not abused.The only problem so far is the ligature doesn't seem to fit very well, though this may just need to be adjusted a bit until it becomes more flexible.All in all, if your child (or you) enjoys learning the Clarinet, try the rental for a couple of months then buy this one!

For beginners
A good clarinet for beginners to start with. The sound's quality is acceptable. The keys are comfortable except the lower keys (the four keys on the right that are close to the bell). The mouthpiece is also not very comfortable but it's not a big problem in the beginning. Overall, a student or a beginner doesn't need anything more than this clarinet.
