All the classics are here. I particularly like the fact it sounds like they are playing in a concert hall-makes the drones all the more impressive. Only complaint-it does not list which bands/pipers contributed to the cd.

If you like bagpipe music...
A MUST add to your collection if you're a fan of all things Scottish. A good mix of chosen songs..especially Amazing Grace and the recordings are clear and precise. They don't fade in and out like some other bagpipe Cd's. You won't be disappointed if you chose this CD.

Beautiful, haunting rendition of a timeless classic
This is one of the five songs that I bought and burned to a CD that was played at my grandfather's recent funeral. The song is beautiful, very reverent and lovely.

CD is an excellent collection of piping pieces
This CD is the grand-daddy of piping CDs. I've many piping CDs, and this by far the best of them. The rendition of Amazing Grace is superb, the piobreachd lament is haunting, and the drumming track is so fast that it hurts my wrists to listen! A must buy for any enthusiast of the music of the Highland bagpipes.

Great and true, an excellent sampling
This is traditional pipe music well presented. To the purist beware the few selections with pipe organ accompaniment which probably sounded wonderful in the cathedral but on cd sounds like two of the loudest musical instruments ever made doing a bit of polite one-ups-manship. The pipes are probably the hardest thing to record well and, for the audiophile looking to get blown away by acoustic realism, your search goes on. The performances are near flawless, and the selections are excellent examples of the pipe music canon.

After our Morning learning about the scottish culture we got our chance to shoot arrows with Merida (she was aiming for the target and I was aiming for the bird in the sky:)... And since they can not carry their music with them they must remember all the songs so they can play them, most songs are about 1 minute to 1 1/2 minutes long. Not only are they blowing air into it (Which that is what the big bag under their arm has in it) but they have to move their fingers and use their arm to squeeze the bag with the air in it and blow into it all at the same time. The 31-year-old director of the National Youth band of Scotland said: “Stick to the traditional bagpipes as this Air Pipes app is a load of hot air. He said: “My grandfather was the drum major in the Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band for many years and I grew up seeing pipe bands play. The Air Pipes app — 69p to download — boasts that fans can blow into the microphone and start “piping like a true Highlander”. World bagpipe champ Alisdair McLaren, from Glasgow’s National Piping Centre, put the app through its paces with renditions of Amazing Grace, Scotland The Brave and Auld Lang Syne. Blowing into the microphone to inflate the bag seemed like the perfect fit for a bagpipe app. Australian-born Alisdair — who moved here in 2007 — added: “I hope it sparks new interest in bagpipes.
Vancouver lifts ban on bagpipes Apr 11 2012 . A ban on buskers playing bagpipes on the streets of a Canadian city has been reversed. "As the mayor has made clear though, council will not support an outright ban on specific instruments and certainly not bagpipes. "Mayor Robertson and I both recognise that bagpipes are part of the cultural heritage shared by Scotland and Vancouver.
