Rare Concert!!!
Well, I just got done watching my new Rare Earth live video, and first off - let me say this...the sound quality on this DVD is very good. In terms of the footage of the show, it is top notch and shows some great shots of the band as they jam through soem of their best stuff. This is a live concert from a show they did in TN a few years back that included other classic rock artists. If you have ever had the pleasure of seeing Rare Earth live, you'll know that they are one of the best live bands. They extend out many of their songs into long jams with each member getting some solo time. Very cool stuff. As for this particular concert, it is very good..but kinda short ( clocking in at about 45 minutes). It was also sad to see a short version of "Get Ready", which is usually like 20 minutes in concert, but here is only like 7 or 8. Other than that, if your a Rare Earth fan, you'll definitely enjoy watching this DVD...plus it is the only one available from them at this point...so it's...

I still teach at the high school full time, then come work full time for Cannonball after I’m off contract at the school.   I taught middle school for 2 years, then applied at another high school in our school district.   I played the horns and was very impressed, but was not in the market for a new saxophone so I left the conference with a really good attitude toward the company and was very positive about what I played and heard.   When I got the job at the high school I didn’t really know anything about Cannonball and I ran into Tevis (one of the owners) at an educator’s conference. The next year it so happened that one of the owners sons, Ryan, entered my high school and I got to know Tevis and Sheryl pretty well through parent teacher interactions and so forth.   That summer I was looking for a part time job to supplement my teaching salary, and ended up making a pretty much full time thing.   But if they don’t we don’t really beat ourselves up about it.   The most fun comes from our emphasis on quality, it opens up the world of literature that you can perform.

The pezzo forte of the evening is a rare saxophone piece of Maltese origin, the Sonata op. 109, composed by Maltese composer Joseph Vella. Batera Duo, composed of saxophonist Philip Attard and pianist Christine Zerafa, will debut their repertoire at the Music Room of St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity in Valletta on Sunday 29th April 2012 at 7. Philip Attard is currently reading for a bachelor degree in music at the University of Malta, majoring in saxophone performance under the tutelage of Godfrey Mifsud. He is a member of the Sassofoni Saxophone Quartet and the Big Band Brothers, and has also performed in concerts with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he made his debut as a soloist last March. This is the first example of the various types of initiative s that can be taken by University students and graduates to raise much needed funds for RIDT in order to finance more research at University. Christine is a recipient of various awards, including first prize in the 11th Bice Mizzi Competition, and the prestigious RNCM Clifton Helliwel Memorial Award.
