Solution to the Adapter Problem
Prior to ordering this item, i read most of the reviews. The common problem seems to be the adapter that comes with this package. It isnt the original Casio adapter, and this seems to cause equipment failure if used. This is what I did and recommended for you to do as well:Rather than getting this package where the keyboard, adapter (generic), and keyboard stand come together, go to the listing on Amazon that just sells the keyboard alone. Then on that same page, it gives you the option to add the adapter and keyboard stand to the purchase. I believe the total then comes out to $129 altogether. This is $10 more than the listing where the give you the package deal with the generic adapter. I personally feel its worth spending an extra $10 to get the original casio adapter rather than using the generic which the casio instruction manual says not to use (or else risk equipment failure).I just purchased it in the way I mentioned above, got in the mail last week, and...

Excellent for the Price
This is a REALLY good value for the price (I paid $128). The headphones took a while to figure out how to use, but the quality of the rest of the set more than makes up for that. I didn't realize when I bought this, but it's a teaching keyboard and has a number of songs programed into it that it will break down and teach you to play. You can also hook it up directly to your computer or radio and download songs onto it that way. Not to mention the volume control.So. Amazing.

Excellent Keyboard for the Price
I was completely satisfied with this purchase in every way. I picked up this item for $99.00 including the AC adapter, jamstand and headphones and got Free Shipping. Everything arrived in 3 days of my online order in excellent condition via FedEx. I am a beginner and learning to read music, this keyboard teaches and reinforces all those skills. It is light and easy to transport. The stand was quick and easy to assemble. Everything was well-packaged, easy to find and remove from the box. I was all set up and ready to play in about 15 min. My church is planning on picking up 4 more at this price for the music program. Highly recommend this item.

Great Keyboard!
I think this is a great keyboard. It has a wonderful sound, great features including the Yamaha Educational Suite (Y.E.S.) built in (includes these features: Listen & Learn, Timing, Waiting, Chord Dictionary).I am betting that the other negative reviews of the stand are because it was not put together right. I had mine together wrong for a couple weeks then yesterday took the keyboard off and looked at it and noticed the leg that was farthest from me (behind the other) had the support rest on top with the longer of its two sides coming towards me. This makes sense because that leg is further "away". Then I looked at the other one (the leg crossing closer to me) and it also had the longer side of the top rest coming towards me making the little plastic tab stops not align from side to side. I took out an allen wrench unscrewed the one holding that rest on and then flipped it around so the little tabs on the ends align with the opposite support rest. Now the slot on the...

Great little keyboard package
Turned out to be perfect for me. I love to play Bach and other baroque composers, so since they wrote for harpsichord and fortepiano (fewer keys than modern pianos), I can play everything they wrote on this 61-key Yamaha right here in my tiny apartment. This model has all the rhythm choices and instrument voices you could want without being so automatic that it feels like a toy. The headphones are a bonus when there's ambient city noise or it's late at night. Other reviewers had difficulty with the stand, but they must have assembled it incorrectly. The keyboard is designed to rest atop the crossbars, not fit into the stand in any way. Try sliding the rubber sleeve supports in or out on the crossbars to balance the keyboard properly atop the stand. Also, make sure you have the height adjuster knob facing away from you as you sit at the keyboard and that the wider ends of all crossbars are facing toward you (measure the screw-hole to end distance if you have to). This will give you...

I love my Casio
This little keyboard is great, it's compact so I can take it anywhere I want. The sound (to me anyway) is good, very responsive when each key is press. Their are many features as well such as 10 Song Bank,50 Patterns,100 tones, tempo, and great volume control. It even has a small LCD so you can see the notes your hitting. The keyboard does not come with batteries or a AC Adapter,(I brought this in my JR Music store in NY and they told me next month or maybe in the distant future you will be able to purchase one for it. It takes 6 batteries I don't care for an adapter because I use rechargeable batteries and don't want to be stuck in one place when playing. I'm new to pianos and this will be a very good beginner one for me or even kids might love it as well, but an adult can use it if they don't want to carry a big heavy one with them everywhere they go, The back of the keyboard is orange and the front is black so I really like the colors on it and the design. If your new to pianos...

Cool little keyboard!
This keyboard fits into my slightly larger backpack. Its portability allows me to carry it around and work out melodic and harmonic ideas for the songs I write when I'm away from home. The eight-note polyphony is really helpful for chording.A problematic issue exists with the Casio SA-75 power adaptor that is advertised as an optional accessory on the Amazon page that features the keyboard. The adaptor isn't compatible because the jack-end doesn't fit into the 9.5 volt terminal on the back of the keyboard. The manual claims the six batteries required to operate the keyboard will last for about six hours, though.I contacted the seller of the SA-75 adaptor and they told me that the correct adaptor for the SA-76 keyboard won't be available until December 2010.The tones are clear and reasonably distinctive, perhaps slightly less so in the brass. The rhythm patterns cover all the basics, and there's more than enough volume control to play with. All in...

Buy The Right Adapter
The other reviews do a good job covering the size, sound, and features... so I'm skipping those. The overall package is reasonable for the price. The only draw back to this little keyboard is the missing power adapter. It wouldn't be so bad if the description or technical specs provided clear documentation to assist in locating an adapter that would work. Since this information is lacking, I've taken the liberty to do a little research and provide some direction. The hard part identifying a suitable adapter is decoding the adapter specs. While the voltage and amperage are usually easy to decipher, the jack size is almost always a convoluted mess to discern. Companies may or may not employ standard jacks based on voltage. In this case everyone is fortunate Casio employs a standard "L" receiver jack. For more info on jack sizes use RadioShack's Adaptaplug conversion matrix: [...].Knowing the voltage and jack type makes finding a suitable power adapter easy. The...

Awesome product
Now, I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about buying a keyboard via the Internet, as I have never owned one beforehand. However, I wanted to learn how to play the piano and had heard that this was a good one to start with from several different piano teachers. Wow, this is quite the bargain. The keyboard comes with a stand, headphones (in case you don't want to run off all of your family and friends as you're learning to play), and also a power adapter. I was surprised to find out that the keyboard does not normally come with these features, (as they are traditionally sold separately), but this package comes with all of these features! The keyboard comes with about 100 built-in songs, (a part of the Yamaha Educational Suite), which you can learn to play along with. (Personally, I have found it easier to buy the Bastien learning series books, as the songs that are included with this keyboard are in small print. This is just my experience, but since I am teaching...

Nice
This is my first real keyboard and I got it to learn to play piano. I've only had it a few days but I'm really impressed by it so far. The keyboard seems to be really good with teaching songs, not only do the keys light up but it tells you which fingers to use and it can teach one hand at a time which is nice for a beginner. I really wasn't expecting much but this thing sounds like a real piano and even the stand and headphones are pretty good quality.

  • Chord Dictionary--shows you how to play chords and tells you which chords you are playing by displaying the notes and chord name on the LCD screen.

Computer Connectivity: General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatible
The music pathway to your computer and the Internet is MIDI. It's the way that keyboards communicate with computers. And because the EZ-200 is both General MIDI (GM) and XGlite compatible, you have access to thousands of MIDI song files on the Internet.

367 Voices and the One-Touch Setting
The EZ-200 has 367 Voices for you to choose from. For example, there are pianos, electric pianos, harpsichord, guitars, drums, bass, violins, brass and synthesizer voices. Pretty much every instrument in the orchestra is at your fingertips. And if you don't know which sound goes with what style of music, the keyboard can select an appropriate sound for you using the convenient One-Touch Setting.

Sound Quality: Real stereo (Not just 2 Speakers)
Some keyboards have two speakers but aren't stereo. Don't be fooled. Just because a keyboard has two speakers doesn't mean that it's truly stereo with two separate amplifiers. All Yamaha Portable Keyboards feature stereo-sampling technology.

32 Note Polyphony and 16 Part Multi Timbrel
In electronic keyboards, the more sounds made at the same time--polyphony--the more memory is needed. Obviously, more is always better, because too little polyphony can cause dropouts in dense passages of music. Some keyboards at this price point have only 12-note polyphony. The EZ-200 has 32 notes of polyphony and will play back 16 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi timbrel); enough for the most demanding needs.

Reverb
Yamaha has long been a world leader in digital signal processing technology. In fact, Yamaha professional audio products are found in most professional recording studios around the world. The EZ-200 takes full advantage of this know-how, giving you an extensive range of nine, top-quality reverb effects that simulate playing in everything from a small room to a large spacious concert hall; a first in this price range.

Metronome
Just what the teacher ordered! A fully adjustable metronome is just a button push away.

Strike up the Band!--Keyboard Styles
In addition to the 100 songs found in the EZ-200, there are 100 Styles that allow you to play any song you like. It's just like having a built-in band. Call up your favorite style of music like Rock, Big Band or Country, press a chord or play Single Finger mode, and the EZ-200 will follow you through a piece of music, providing all of the drums, bass, piano, guitar, horn and string parts for you. With this instrument, you can make great sounding music with little more than 2 fingers, however as you learn to play, the EZ-200 will adapt to your new skills and automatically switch between single finger mode and fingered mode where you play all the notes of the chord.

Connectivity
The EZ-200 features MIDI In/Out, Sustain Pedal jack and a Headphone jack for private practice.

Don't forget your Survival Kit!
Designed to provide you with everything you need to get started. Kit includes a two-year extended warranty, power adaptor, foot switch on models that require it, stereo headphones, bonus coupons and a DVD-ROM. Look for it at a dealer near you.

Great keyboard and learning system but lousy stand
I read many reviews of this keyboard before I purchased it, both good and bad, and I agree with a number of the comments others have made -- I love the keyboard, hate the stand.First, I love this keyboard and the teaching system. I have found the multiple teaching methods to be very handy and clever. You have the option of learning by following along with a demonstration while the keys light up, or you can just sit and watch and learn, or you can practice tapping out the rhythm on any key just to get the pacing right, or you can use the "wait" method, where the keys light up and the song plays along with you, but if you stop or get the wrong key, the system waits for you, holds the song at that point, lights up the correct key(s) to hit, and does not proceed until you get it right, then continues. I like that you can turn off the demonstration at any point, and you can turn off the lighted keys if you like and just play the instrument like a regular piano...

Incredible value/ Awesome product...
I did a lot of research before choosing this keyboard. I looked at it at Fry's Electronics store but they only had the "demonstrator" and it was VERY, VERY used! Due to it's condition, they offered me the "killer" deal of a whopping 5% discount! I went to Amazon.com and found the exact same Yamaha model but, unlike the one at Fry's, the one from Amazon.com included a power adapter, a nice set of stereo headphones, AND a sturdy, adjustable stand...all at the same price. The value was incredible. The keyboard itself was awesome. I've played at playing the piano and various keyboards for over 50 years...always as a relaxing pastime and never devoting the time and practice needed to get "good". This Yamaha YPG-235 makes me GOOD! The built in styles, "voices", effects, etc., coupled with the ability to upload thousands of other sounds from the Internet via the built in USB port which connects it to your PC makes this the most advanced and awesome sounding instrument I've ever seen...

Replacement seems to work well
I received this keyboard on 2/2/11. As always, I was impressed with how quickly I received my order from Amazon.com. However, within minutes of setting up the keyboard, I noticed that two keys on the right side of the keyboard didn't work. One key simply didn't work AT ALL, and one key seemed to have a short and would only play after pressing it like 3 or 4 times in a row. Amazon is making it easy to return/exchange this keyboard, so I'm hopeful that the replacement is decent. However, after this experience and reading other reviews online of this exact problem, I am very concerned about the build quality of this keyboard, despite having heard good things over the years about Yamaha.I'll update this review after I receive the replacement in a week or so. Hopefully I won't have to switch to another brand, but Casio maybe the next one I look at (need to keep this purchase affordable).UPDATE: I received a replacement keyboard in record time: less than 2...

cheap piano substitute
Not bad. I'm pretty happy with the piano. Glad I got it, and would definitely buy it again. A few complaints to consider, but keep in mind I still rated it 4 stars. I'm just being picky here.Keys: very little resistance, therefore does not feel like a piano. Also, I have the impression the keys are narrower than piano keys. While this is not mathematically true, I still have that feeling. And when you're talking about fingers, feeling matters. I think the low resistance contributes to this. You can depress a key just by the side of your finger catching it. Now all this is not to say you can't learn. It's analogous to the difference between typing on a laptop keyboard and a full keyboard. The cogno/psycho/senso/motor skill totally translates over, you just have to get used to a different feel. The transition will seem disproportionately rough, but once you get used to it you will go back and forth fine, and practice on one will appreciate on the other.Range: You...

Incredibly good value; great instrument for small space
This is one hell of an amazon.com bargain; It's bigger than my last one, has more features, and the tone quality of the keyboard is superb. I am very happy with it, being a singer I need a good keyboard that is not pitched high but square on the notes, such as this one. It sits on my computer desk and can be easily put to the side with no fuss. This is a great value for the price and a very high quality instrument to boot!

Cheap and awesome. So much fun
For the price, this keyboard is freaking awesome (I ended up trading in a few Wii games for Amazon credit, so this only ended up costing me $30). This keyboard is *huge*, the sound is pretty good, I love playing around with the instrument settings (especially Vibraphone and electric piano), and it actually comes with an AC power cord, headphone plug-in, and sustain button (things that apparently other more expensive keyboards don't necessarily have). It also just sounds good, and the upkeep is so much easier than a real piano. I have found myself playing most days, which is awesome since I haven't consistently had access to a piano since I was a child. I think I read a review somewhere that there's a metronome setting---not sure. There's so many buttons I haven't even learned yet. Finally, the amount of pressure that you have to put on the keys is very comfortable---I've played many pianos where the pressure to apply to keys was very awkward, so I had to push them so hard that...

It works! -- First keyboard I've found for that price that does.
I have purchased several portable inexpensive keyboards only to find that software bugs render them unusable -- they don't sound the notes that are being played. This one does work properly! No usb port, somewhat cheap feel and sound but perfectly good for carrying around and teaching on.

Piano Keyboard

With sorts ranging from general objective keyboards with lighter keys for the a lot more specialist digital pianos that are developed to copy the sound of a genuine grand piano or upright piano, which sort is finest for you or your son or daughter. They’re normally located employing a complete 76 note keyboard, weighted piano keys and a selection of wonderful traditional acoustic piano sounds. Electric piano keyboards are available in a wide selection of sizes (mainly driven by the number of keys… generally 61, 73, or 88… and sound top quality), and if they may be created to be “table top” instead of floor-standing, they’re normally... Though you are able to acquire digital pianos that cost more than employed standard pianos, in general, the value range for electric pianos is significantly less than the analog “wood and string” variety. This is due to the fact, up until that time skilled musicians employed the electric piano but right after the 1980′s with all the coming of electronic synth keyboards they were discarded and individuals took towards the synthesizers. A large alternative of electric pianos and keyboards is accessible in the marketplace at quite diverse prices. But an Electric Piano Keyboard is distinct, it really is electro mechanical.

I’d love to know if anyone has tried a similar dual press switch and what the tactile feel is. The big design concern when this was first being designed, was a tactile feel for the key presses. It was the best option outside of more advanced fabrication of a silicon keyboard membrane… which was outside the scope of what we can reliably do DIY with no experience. Here is a photo stream with shots of the Isomorphic Keyboard in progress. On top of those are cemented a 1/8″ laser cut acrylic top in 3 different colors, with a raster pass first to add some tactile feel to distinguish between keys without looking. Giving you the ability to separately work on the feel of the key and the reliability of no mechanical switches… at the cost of power and circuit complexity. Sides are laser cut acrylic, stacked and cemented together to wrap around the case edges. A hefty chunk of black acrylic, milled precisely for a snug fit around the cherry switch stems. Cherry switches seem ideal since they were mechanically designed for finger presses anyway. PCBs are mounted on a laser cut wood scaffolding to fit into the case.
