Minus an annoying glitch, this game rules.
I finally got my chance to get this a couple days ago, and so far I'm very impressed with it.First, I'll talk about the new guitar controller and explain to you why this (or the super bundle) is completely worth it. The new guitar is sleek. All the electronics in the controller are built into the center, enabling the body itself to be completely interchangeable. I doubt I'll ever personally make use of that feature, but it's neat nonetheless. The Wii remote is inserted into a spot on the neck where the touch-pad would have been. By the way, I'm VERY happy that Activision did away with the touch-pad. I often found it to be cumbersome, overly sensitive and overall useless. This new guitar also has an improved strum bar. It's a bit smaller, it takes getting used to, but in the end it's worth it because once you get used to it, you find that it allows you to focus on the faster guitar parts that approach as the game nears its finish. Overall, one of my favorite guitar...

Amazing Fun - Addictive and Vastly Replayable
I adore the Guitar Hero series. It is incredibly fun, can be played co-op, and exposes players to all sorts of great music. Guitar Hero III ups the ante with even more fantastic songs plus a new battle mode for fun head to head gameplay!Once again you're a small time band starting off in your garage - or make that, your back yard. As you play through songs on your guitar controller, your career begins to take off. You make videos, play larger arenas, and earn money. The money lets you buy yourself new outfits and guitars. As you battle special players, you unlock their characters - like Slash from Guns 'N Roses. In every Guitar Hero game there have been songs I've liked and other songs I haven't liked. That's going to be true pretty much no matter who you are. They try their very best to provide a wide range of music to suit all guitar tastes, and they do an excellent job at it. Some of the songs are SUPER in this set and got me up off the couch dancing around...

A Step Backward
A note to any official Amazon guys - you might want to merge this review set with the bundle on 360.Okay. Now, I'm a fan of the franchise. I own a lot of it. All of it, actually, and twice on 360 and PS2 for the immediate predecessor of this installment. So, hopefully you will trust me when I say that I am a fan of the gameplay and the franchise in general in this preface. It's kind of baffling what's happened with this game. Neversoft has certainly recognized some of the shortcomings of its predecessor, but have somehow managed to not solve even one of those issues, and have, in fact, introduced new problems to be addressed. I'll do this as a sort of point-by-point thing, to keep it organized:1. Medium-to-Hard. In Guitar Hero 2, the jump from Medium to Hard was only slightly more enjoyable than stepping in front of a speeding bus. The main reason this was such a problem was that the game was very, very poorly designed for getting players...

Still the same Guitar Hero, but with some great additions.
Guitar Hero 3 (GH3) is the fourth iteration in this series of games despite it being labeled the third, though for most people the 80s edition that was the actual third game was a bit of a footnote since it only came out on PS2 and had very little in it that differed from Guitar Hero 2 other than the songs.GH3 continues with the same basic formula as the previous games which will keep fans of the series happy, but at the same time adds some welcome new features. One of the best additions is that of online play so that you can now do co-op, face-off, pro face-off and battle mode with a friend over the Live network. The battle mode is a change up from the normal face-off modes in that instead of gaining star power you acquire attacks from playing certain sequences of notes. Then when you turn the guitar up as if you were going to use star power it instead launches an attack at your opponent. The attacks vary in their nastiness and while I was skeptical of this...

Bridget's Review
I surprised my hubby with one of the new, slim PS3's for Christmas and needless to say, he was ecstatic! When I gave him the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Guitar Bundle, he literally jumped for joy. He's been a Guitar Hero fan since before we started dating and I remember standing in line one year to pick up the game at midnight. It felt great to be able to make his day like that. I enjoy the Guitar Hero games but not nearly as much as he does. His favorite part of Warriors of Rock is the quest. Watching the characters transform is amazing! The song choices in this game are perfect. I was really excited to play these songs:Aerosmith - "Cryin'"Def Leppard - "Pour Some Sugar On Me"Drowning Pool - "Bodies"Flyleaf - "Again"Linkin Park - "Bleed It Out"Muse - "Uprising"Nickelback - "How You Remind Me"R.E.M. - "Losing My Religion"This is my favorite Guitar Hero game so far! I think the hubby would agree.

dont believe the bashing
okay so places like ign are bashing this game. not because of the quality of the game but because guitar hero has flooded the market since release. so they are unjustly judging this game.this IS the best guitar hero to date. the difficulty is higher but still accessible by new players, the tracklist is FAR better than ever before, and like gh5 before it, warriors of rock can copy the tracks from world tour and gh 5 if you own a copy (must be 360 version of the game)the guitar is far more responsive than previously. there is no touchpad but the build feels more sturdy. the body style is different than before. rather than a 2 piece guitar its a 4 piece.the graphic are improved and the customization system is better as well. and the story mode has an actual story and its a lot more fun than in the past

Great Game, Terrible Guitar
Thankfully, Guitar Hero has finally lived up to its name for the first time since Guitar Hero 3. There are 93 new songs, and almost all of them are geared towards guitar. There is still the full band option, but unlike gh5, gh smash hits and gh world tour the priority is a good song for guitar. Warriors of rock has songs by classic bands like aerosmith, bu also has newer ones like linkin park and muse. Also, Activision put on a hard song by dragonforce, which makes the game infinitely more fun. There is about 6-10 hours of gameplay on quest mode, so even if you try to finish as fast as you can it still takes you several days. One small problem with so much gameplay is that you can't actually play the hard songs on quickplay until you have passed them in quest mode, a week after you got the game. But overall the game is very fun to play, and if you haven't bought a guitar hero game since gh3, or even if you are just starting, i would definitely recomend getting the game. But DO...

Still fun despite various annoyances
I was a little worried when I ordered this game based on some of the complaints I'd been reading. Having received it and spent several hours playing, I find that the complaints are basically valid but not as big a deal as some might have one believe. Here are my thoughts:* The song list ranges from worthless to classic. They're trying to please too many different people and should probably consider releasing separate games in specific genres going forward. I love the classic rock and '80s metal tracks, but a lot of the others don't do anything for me. I'm sure that plenty of younger gamers have the opposite reaction. Also, the fact that a few of the songs can only be played in multiplayer mode is extremely annoying.* The gameplay is indeed much harder than in previous games. Aside from the fact that Easy still uses only 3 fret buttons and Medium uses 4, each difficulty level is roughly equivalent to the next highest level in the earlier games...

Great game but much harder
First off let me just say that this is a great game. I was a little concerned when it switched from Harmonix to Neversoft, but they have stayed true to what guitar hero is all about. Mechanics of the game is the same and the game play is very fun as usual. This however is not for the faint hearted. The song list is great (mostly original artists and not cover bands like the last 2 games) but they are very fast paced and particulary "shredders" where you feel your arm is about to fall off. I play on hard and expert. You shouldn't have any problems and if you are new to guitar hero I recommend on starting out easy/medium due to the difficultly level being anti-upped in guitar hero 3. "One" in particular is the song title by Metallica which is a very hard song to beat and this would be for those who have played guitar hero before and want a significant challenge. What's interesting is that they have added what's called "battle mode" which instead of star...

Works With Rockband Generation One Guitars and Drums
The other reviewers tell you everything you need to know about the game. It's a lot of fun. I couldn't find a clear answer before buying it to whether or not my rock band guitar and drums would work with it. Thus, the point of this review is to let you know that YES they will work. You don't have to buy a whole new set of equipment. This isn't meant to discourage you from buying them if that's what you want. I'm just letting you know you don't have to if you own the first generation or Rock Band equipment. I, personally, just don't have the space to house two drums sets. I wouldn't have bought the game if the controllers weren't compatible for that reason. My only small complaint is that some of the songs on Rockband 2 and GH WT overlap but there's enough songs that don't (Hotel California and Purple Haze) that it's worth buying both.

Legend of rock gets made even better with a ton of new features.
This is a good enough game for even those who can not pony up the dough for full kit or a new guitar, just get the game and play just bass and guitar, and let your inner rock fury go!I myself purchased this band kit as soon as I could this morning the day of release, and it is well worth it. Here is what comes it the kit: Drum kit(3 pads, 2 cymbal risers, kick pedal) with midi in and expansion port, drumsticks, usb microphone, guitar with connector/usb splitter, stickers for guitar. All you need to connect in one box, no need for extra usb hub if you do not want it.A bit about the drum kit, very playable, durable upper, kick pedal is a bit flimsy, but alright for my purposes.A bit about the new guitar. This features detachable faceplate, extended neck, larger strum bar, longer whammy bar, and the tap/touch pad. this guitar is not necessary for any features in the game, but for advanced gamers, they may find it a new fun way to bend the sounds on...

So close but no cigar.........
This is a good game but it falls short in a couple of areas:Pros (always good to stay positive at first):Music that just isn't available anywhere elseDeath Magnetic Album (tight)Recording Studio is kinda cool I like how you can pick scales and effects with your axe (more on that in Cons)Create Rock Star is really in depthCompatibility with RB instruments (biggest plus)ConsDLC Content is practically non existent (yes it is new but at least support all of GH:3's content would have made up for it)Graphics are not as good as they could/should beRecording Studio is like a create your own ringtone studio......vocals should be in there in some medium......maybe they just can't publish vocals on the netThe instruments don't sync that well with the TV and Calibration does little to fix thisOverall GH:WT is a fun game and its worth it if you just love this genre of games to own as it gives you...

Start a Band...the Guitar Hero Way

Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero's signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines advanced wireless instruments with online and offline gameplay modes including online Band Career and 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game features a Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, edit and share their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems.

Be the Next Great Songwriter

Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game or share the recordings with the entire Guitar Hero community through GHTunes. GHTunes allows other gamers from around the world to download and play the community's original tracks. Available to PlayStation 3 gamers is Line 6's guitar tone technology, enabling them to use amps, cabs, and effects from the Line 6 POD.

Create the Band

Budding rock stars can live out their rock ‘n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time.

Never Jam Solo Again

Virtual musicians in need of band mates can take their careers online forming worldwide ensembles so no rock star ever has to play a gig solo. Plus, GHWT adds a "Battle of the Bands" modes, which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to establish global supremacy.

Customize Everything

The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers.

A Set List for the Ages

The Guitar Hero World Tour set list is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest artists of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, and Sublime. Fantastically Fun - but Hard on the Fingers
I think I've hit one of the must-have games for any PS2 owner that enjoys rock music. You get a physical "guitar" controller with this game, and it's amazingly fun!You hold the controller just like a real guitar, and it's switchable for left handed players. The neck of the guitar has 5 buttons on it that you play with your left hand. In the center of the guitar is a "strum" button that you hit to play the notes. There's even a metal bar to wiggle, to cause the notes to "bend" to give an extra crowd boost. If you're not a big hard rock / metal fan, there's only a few songs to choose from. You get Ziggy Stardust, Crossroads, Killer Queen, Sharp Dressed Man, More than a Feeling and a few more. Those who like harder rock will be quite thrilled, though. There's Iron Man, I Wanna Be Sedated, Symphony of Destruction, You've Got Another Thing Comin' and much more. There are four difficulty levels. You start with easy of course, where it's great fun to play...

An impeccable idea, charmingly executed. Great fun.
Finally, a PS2 game that deserves five stars. Guitar Hero is one of those high-concept games with such a great premise that many people will buy it without having seen a single screen capture. And the cincher is, it fully lives up to its promise.Pros:- Addictive gameplay. The customized guitar-shaped controller gives an added cute factor over other simulation games of this type.- Terrific graphics, backgrounds, and characters. Their in-game activities and details are very endearing.- Fortunately, they didn't forget the guitar-loving gals and included two female characters you can choose from. There's also a terrific Donnas song ("Take It Off") you can play along to, plus that perennial air-guitar classic, Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll". They could've gone even farther with the gender balance -- imagine trying to play something by Sleater-Kinney, with those twisty Carrie Brownstein guitar lines -- but at least they tried.- Good songs with...

Guitar Hero will rock your socks off.
You may have seen it in arcades, an undersized plastic "guitar" with 5 colorful buttons on its bridge, but balked at the $2.00 it costs to play the thing. Well for only $70.00 you can now get the game for your PS2 and play it over and over and over again. And that's exactly what'll happen if you buy it.One stipulation:You better at least like rock music. And by Rock, I don't mean Sheryl Crowe, I mean Head-thrashing, Fingers-shredding, Bite-the-head-off-bats rock. Oh sure, there's the occasional genre buster, they've got a modest Queen piece, and Texas Flood, a slinging blues piece. But the meat of the playlist comes from bands with guitarists who have one-word nicknames. From punk to classic to metal to some of the bands on the radio today, the common denominator is that the songs rock.Still, it's ridiculously addicting, like a Dance Dance Revolution for the hair-band crowd, and while there are a limited number of songs (around 30 once...

Guitar Hero

By Mike Collett-White LONDON (Reuters) – Bert Weedon, whose “Play in a Day” guitar guide set some of the biggest names in rock and roll on the road to greatness, has died. Play in a Day, released in 1957, has sold more than two million copies and helped inspire a generation of budding musicians, from teenagers playing in school bands to the likes of Eric Clapton, Brian May of Queen and the late John Lennon. “Bert was the man who wrote ‘Play in a Day’, and everybody seemed to follow that book — Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Bill Wyman, among others,” Mans said. As well as his participation in early rock recordings, Weedon enjoyed success on his own, becoming the first British guitarist to get a solo record in the Hit Parade with “Guitar Boogie Shuffle”. Initially Weedon learned classical guitar, a grounding that equipped him to adapt to a range of musical styles, from jazz to dance music, later in life. He played for Cliff Richard and Billy Fury, among others, but his biggest influence came through Play in a Day.
