How sweet the sound!
Heaven must be missing an angel because she's here with us-singing on this disc. This is arguably one of the most beautiful recordings of sacred music ever made. Ms. Norman brings a lifetime of experience to this genre-she joined her church choir at 4! The warm acoustics make you feel like you are sitting in your favorite pew-albeit with a magnificent vocalist in the choirloft. Jessye has conquered the world's opera houses in the most demanding roles-one of which garnered her a fifty-five minute standing ovation (Salzberg). But she is most resplendent in the music of her youth. The majestic voice soars over the orchestra and chorus to deliver the full beauty of the music. Ms. Norman also performs selections with organ accompaniment-appropiate since her voice has often been compared to the king of instruments-"with all the stops pulled out"! You will hear why she is one of the most acclaimed recitalists of our time. Her expansive vocal range encompasses every nuance of the...

Classic taken to the Next Level
I bought this CD recently and began wondering how classical music might sound combined with nature sounds. As I listened, I wasn't even close to what I predicted. Each song was carefully selected and accompanied by the right sounds creating a more pleasing mood in addition to a great concentrating atmosphere. What also makes this CD intriguing is the varieties of famous composer such as Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Bach, and Delibes. With the sounds of nature in each track, this CD will induce relaxation and a calm, peacful atmosphere.

WHY NOT?
Elgar was the English of the English, so is there any reason why a Scottish orchestra under a Scottish conductor cannot give a first-class account of his overtures? On the evidence of this fine set, none at all. Obviously there are other excellent versions around, but this disc competes on a level of quality where preferences are probably more a matter of the listener's temperament than of any considerations that I might call `objective'. Elgar has a spring in his step in all the four pieces here, and that suits them all. What is even more important is how his orchestral writing is made to sound. That is an issue partly of the playing and partly of the recording, and several hearings have reinforced my first impression that this matter has been exceptionally well handled here.Elgar must have been difficult to record, at least to judge from many recordings that have come my way. His range of tone-colour is wide and it is rich, but to convey that on record has defeated many...

Fantasic In the South, not so good elsewhere
I was turned onto this recording when I sought a satisfactory interpretation of In the South, Elgar's reminiscence of an Italian vacation, and found this version recommended by the All Music Guide . At about 20 minutes' duration, In the South is the main reason to buy this recording.I wasn't disappointed by the music; conductor Alexander Gibson delivers a high energy and full-throated version of In the South, which has four sections about Italy. However, the remaining music on the disk -- Elgar's Froissart and Cockaigne overtures and Handel's "Chandos Anthem No. 2" as overture for orchestra in D minor -- were not in the same league. The two Elgar overtures paled in comparison to performances by Barbirolli...

Gibson Organ

LOWREY T1 COMBO ORGAN WITH SELF-STORING STAND, INCLUDING THE INTEGRATED REMOTE LOWREY COMBO ORGAN AMPLIFIER, PLUS THE ORIGINAL BASS PEDAL BOARD- WHICH IS HOUSED FOR TRANSPORT, IN THE SELF-STORING LOWREY ORGAN BENCH. VERY SIMILAR TO THE GIBSON COMBO ORGAN LINE, THE SAME VIBE CONTINUES IN THIS LOWREY COMBO ORGAN.

"Somehow an Internet organ [sic] called The Wrap found my letter and then Mel denied it. I'm not going to stand for people calling me a liar. Mel Gibson fires back: and I'm proud of it and that's why I asked him in the letter to give it back to me. ". And about that letter.

They decided on a pipe organ and hired Charles Gibson, of C. W. Gibson, pipe organ specialists in Monroeville, N. J. , to advise them. Busteed said the organ was comparable in 1932 to the best organs of the time, such as Skinner organs. Moyer has moved to a retirement community in York and sold his organ to the church, at 538 W. Chestnut St. Busteed will perform on the organ in services at 10 and 11:45 a. m. Easter, closing each service with the rousing Widor Toccata. Thomas Busteed was a high school student in the Poconos learning how to play the organ and to build organs for a possible career. The UUC originally had a pipe organ, but it was replaced with a Baldwin electronic organ in 1967. Yet there was a yearning for an organ, and an organ fund was established. Gibson suggested Moyer's organ, which he had maintained. Ivan Moyer, in his 70s, had built a home around an organ in the Poconos and needed help installing it. "He was praying for help," said Busteed, who met Moyer at a choir practice. "The deciding factor was when (Moyer) said, 'Listening to an electric organ is like looking at a picture of the Grand Canyon. Busteed helped Moyer re-leather and rewire his 1932, eight-rank Whitelegg Moller Organ with 600 pipes and chimes. "It's incredible how they got that organ down off the balcony in the Catholic church," Busteed said. "You're not going to find organs that sound like this today," Busteed said.
