Great set up for beginners!
This is a great set up for beginners. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this package again. I can't find anything major to complain about, and my 11 year old son is loving his first electric guitar! An older person or someone who has more experience with guitars in general, may find this package lacking, as they most likely have all those little extras that this Fender comes with. I would recommend looking for a hard case, as I feel that the jam bag that comes with the guitar, won't protect it as well as a regular case. All in all, a great value!

Fantastic Buy For The Money
This is a nice quality guitar, which comes with a stand, pics, tuner, strings, strap and amplifier... can't beat the price. The picture shows there should be a guitar case with the pack, but it doesn't come with one, which seems a little deceiving. If they're not going to include the case, then don't show it in the picture. Other than that, it's a great quality guitar with all the needed accessories for a great price. Recommended!

Starcaster breaks the mold!
The guitar looks beautiful- a fiery maple sunburst finish on a sturdy, well-finished wooden body; and it sounds even better, especially when hooked up to the amp! The strings take some getting used to, at least when one is a beginner, but they sound clear and crisp when plucked. The amp clarifies the sound enough that one can tell exactly which notes were hit and if a finger so much as brushed against the wrong string, magnifying the smallest vibrations produced by pick or fingers at the fret. And the tuner will help narrow down the correct tension in the string to produce an accurate note, although it sometimes takes a minute to work and seems to have trouble identifying the notes or the string. The pics cover the entire color spectrum. The stand and carrying case work perfectly. So far I have not used any extra strings, but they will probably be easy to affix when necessary and sound just the same as the original strings. Solid starter pack
I am new to the guitar but not a total beginner in music and was thrilled all that you get in the package. Both the guitar and amp are more than adequate as a practice rig for a beginner. I am impressed that the hardware to adjust the truss and string action were included. The guitar has a beautiful sunburst finish with reddish brown pickguard. Everything was functional and easy to use, although I will say the strap is a little loose and the stand is a little light, but what more can you expect for $149. The small amp gets pretty buzzy and noisy around 7-8, but if you keep the volume below blasting, the sound quality is good enough.If you're doing performances, I would definitely upgrade the strap, tuners, stand and amp, but for just starting out, this package is more than adequate.

My First Guitar
Overall I think this is a good starter kit.the body seems to be great, the neck and frets are good; the only bad part is the head, it's rough and could have been finished way better, not well sanded , rough spots around the edge and not much finish - no gloss to it at all.seems to tune up ok and play ok, the only buzz i hear so far is my novice fingering.the electronic tuner had no real instructions to speak of so i found a you-tube video that told me what to do.the dvd is a cut down version and imho is missing what the new user needs the most - HOW TO SETUP and HOW TO TUNE!the "Pick Sampler" well really they just put in 3 medium picks that were only different in color, it would have been better if they gave us different ones like hard, medium or whatever...the amp seems like a good first amp.like i said this seems fair as a starter.

Pretty good guitar for a kid!
My parents gave me this guitar for christmas, and I've had this guitar for about 5 months now,and I have loved and hated some things about the guitar. let's start with the short list, the hated.Hated: The strap is garbage, The wammy bar causes the guitar to go insanely out of tune, for about 2 weeks the frets cut your hands to shreds, When using one pickup, the amp makes a really annoying buzzing sound, so use the second to bottom or top setting on the pickup selector switch. The guitar does also go out of tune fairly easy by itself.Now onto the loved: EXTREMELY STURDY AND STRONG. My guitar was dropped by one of my friends onto a concrete floor and the only damage done was a small chip in the finish by the neck. Amp is fantastic for it's size. Loud enough to fill a gymnasium full of screaming students. The tuner is fantastic, and the picks are incredibly strong. Strings sound good and are strong. Extra strings are a good bonus, just make sure you put them on...

Must buy for the beginner!
I got this kit for my birthday because I want to learn guitar. It is totally ridiculous to invest much more than about $200 at the start of a new hobby. At the beginner level, you have no idea what you need, what you want, whether your even going to stick with it, etc. Luckily, Fender is selling this little gem.I'm not going to lie--in this $200 package, you will not get a $700 guitar with a $150 amp and a Monster cable. What you do get is a guitar that sounds good and that you can learn on, an amp that makes your practice audible, and a DVD that... well, sucks. The DVD is really bad.I highly recommend this package for the beginner.(As for the DVD sucking--it says it's for beginners, but it moves much too fast. Get a book and teach yourself or, better yet, get lessons. Don't count on the DVD.)

Great Guitar Package!
I am a bass guitar player, and own/have owned several bass guitars, including a Fender Mustang and currently a Fender Precision (Sting signature series). I have also owned a Fender Squier (6-string) guitar before. We ordered the Starcaster guitar package for my middleschool daughter.It's a great guitar with great sound; honestly, the sound is fantastic. And there are a lot of peripheral items included at a fabulous price. We've had no problems at all with the cord or amp, and the sound that little amp makes it really clear. Hit the overdrive, and you get a nice distortion sound. You can't control the amount of overdrive (it's either on or off), but for a beginner or for household use, it's perfect. The compact guitar stand is very stable for its size.A few other reviewers have criticized the guitar for string buzz. Well, you can adjust the bridge very easily. Great Start For A Beginner Guitarist
I read all of the product reviews before buying this guitar and finally decided it would be worth the risk. And I was right, it was worth it. The shipping box came with a few dings in it, but the product is packed very well. There was absolutely no damage to anything inside the box. As a beginning guitarist, I think the product is excellent. The little amp seems to have a lot of volume and good tone, and the guitar is very well made from what I can tell. It sounds good, feels good, and plays very well. And contrary to everything I read, the frets are not sharp on the ends. In fact mine are beveled and smooth.I do however have two small complaints. It seems like everyone has either the red or starburst colors, so I opted for the midnight blue. Well, it's midnight alright. It's so dark, that you need a really bright light or sunlight just to be able to tell it's not black. And then it looks more of a dark purple than blue. My second complaint was a buzz from the 5th (A)...

I feel that the product that I got for the sale price was very much worth the money.Please understand that I am a novice electric guitar player. A good guitar to get you started
I had been thinking about playing the guitar for many years but had never acted on it. While surfing Amazon on my new laptop I saw the deals on the guitar packages and I made my move. I picked a name that I knew and a style that I liked and it all came together in this great package. I consulted with friends of mine who do play and they all agreed that this was a great deal. I had a small issue with not receiving all of the items that were shown to be included with this package, but Amazon and Fender came through eventually and I got them all. It is a simple instrument with a good sound. The DVD is very easy to follow and I plan on purchasing the full length version offered on Amazon. I still consider myself a rank amateur at playing but I'm enjoying learning more every time I pick it up and tune into my DVD. I would strongly recommend that anyone wishing to start out on electric guitar take a strong look at this item.

Almost Perfect
I give this 4/5 stars because the description is incorrect.It is a great guitar for a beginner, but it DOES NOT include an instructional DVD or a Gig Bag (as the description states).If those had been included, I would have gotten 5 stars.Great Tone, Great Features, Fender online guitar training rocks (so you really don't need the dvd). Good Buy for the price, just make sure you buy a gig bag too.

Awesome Kit Great for beginners
So I ordered this kit mainly to just have in the house. I figured it was not that expensive and I was reading some of the reviews and a few were mixed about the neck being warped or the guitar not staying in tune. So I figured I would check all those things out as soon as it arrived.The Guitar arrived undamaged and packaged well. Comes with a really loud little 15 watt amp. A set of extra strings (Good for beginners), a ton of different weight picks, a nylon strap and a nylon carry bag and a pretty good chord and a stand that works well. I had issues with none of these things. I tuned the Guitar, played light and heavy for about 45 minutes, checked to see if it was in tune and it was in tune just like when I started. I'll pick it up again later and check again as I check each time I pick it up to play anyway. I use a Snark SN - 2 tuner for the guitar and I recommend both this guitar package and the snark SN -2 Tuner. You can get both of these on Amazon.com and get...

I am a fan of Fender stuff.
I have two Fender Guitars. A Telecaster and a Stratocaster Standard. The only thing I did not like was the Rosewood Neck on the Strat. I replaced it with an Ebony neck.These guitars are bullet proof, I play them for hours on end with out any problems. Care to them is simple, clean them, tune them and replace the strings. Nice guitars

Nice guitar
This Fender Starcaster is my first electric guitar and I consider it to be pretty nice --- after all, it is a Fender. I'm not exactly thriled with the small amp that came with the kit, but, hey, I'm a beginner so I shouldn't complain. The kit came with everything but the guitar stand, so I sent a note to the supplier and they sent one within a few days. The gig bag leaves a lot to be desired (too thin), so I ordered a better one. Also, the cable that came with the kit developed a short about two weeks after it arrived, so I have to contact the seller about that, too. Bottom line, a very good good guitar and accessories for the price.
