Solution to the Adapter Problem
Prior to ordering this item, i read most of the reviews. The common problem seems to be the adapter that comes with this package. It isnt the original Casio adapter, and this seems to cause equipment failure if used. This is what I did and recommended for you to do as well:Rather than getting this package where the keyboard, adapter (generic), and keyboard stand come together, go to the listing on Amazon that just sells the keyboard alone. Then on that same page, it gives you the option to add the adapter and keyboard stand to the purchase. I believe the total then comes out to $129 altogether. This is $10 more than the listing where the give you the package deal with the generic adapter. I personally feel its worth spending an extra $10 to get the original casio adapter rather than using the generic which the casio instruction manual says not to use (or else risk equipment failure).I just purchased it in the way I mentioned above, got in the mail last week, and...

Excellent for the Price
This is a REALLY good value for the price (I paid $128). The headphones took a while to figure out how to use, but the quality of the rest of the set more than makes up for that. I didn't realize when I bought this, but it's a teaching keyboard and has a number of songs programed into it that it will break down and teach you to play. You can also hook it up directly to your computer or radio and download songs onto it that way. Not to mention the volume control.So. Amazing.

Excellent Keyboard for the Price
I was completely satisfied with this purchase in every way. I picked up this item for $99.00 including the AC adapter, jamstand and headphones and got Free Shipping. Everything arrived in 3 days of my online order in excellent condition via FedEx. I am a beginner and learning to read music, this keyboard teaches and reinforces all those skills. It is light and easy to transport. The stand was quick and easy to assemble. Everything was well-packaged, easy to find and remove from the box. I was all set up and ready to play in about 15 min. My church is planning on picking up 4 more at this price for the music program. Highly recommend this item.

Great for apartment living and as a practice tool
A digital piano will not completely replace a real acoustic, but it comes closer and closer as years go by. I think enormous progress has been made and the YDP-181 demonstrates how much. It used to be that keyboards had springy keys and metallic sound.1) The boxThe box is LARGE. If you buy it from a store, unless you have an SUV you will have to open it and put the parts in the trunk after folding the rear seats. It is HEAVY too. At 110 pounds, you need to help to move it around.2) AssemblyI found assembly straightforward. If you have assembled IKEA furniture, it is not more difficult than that. Again, because of the weight, you will need someone to help you lift the action so that it rests on the sides. After that, you tighten the screws, connect the pedal cord, the power supply, and you are ready to go.3) The buildThe included bench feels a bit tinny. It is not that wide and large, but unless you weigh 300...

Great piano
After comparing many Roland, Casio and Yamaha models, this is the one I settled on and couldn't be happier about it. I played the piano from about age 6 through high school and I wanted to get back into it.Of all the Roland/Casio/Yamaha models I tested in person, this Yamaha in particular had the best "feel" of a real piano. It lacks some of the electronic/midi compatibility of the Casio AP620, but in terms of the build quality and the feel of a real piano, the YDP-181 is the clear winner. It is more sturdily built than both the 161 and the 141, and the key action of the 181 is also better than both the 161 and 141. I'd highly recommend spending the few hundred extra dollars if you can afford it.

Incredibly good value; great instrument for small space
This is one hell of an amazon.com bargain; It's bigger than my last one, has more features, and the tone quality of the keyboard is superb. I am very happy with it, being a singer I need a good keyboard that is not pitched high but square on the notes, such as this one. It sits on my computer desk and can be easily put to the side with no fuss. This is a great value for the price and a very high quality instrument to boot!

Cheap and awesome. So much fun
For the price, this keyboard is freaking awesome (I ended up trading in a few Wii games for Amazon credit, so this only ended up costing me $30). This keyboard is *huge*, the sound is pretty good, I love playing around with the instrument settings (especially Vibraphone and electric piano), and it actually comes with an AC power cord, headphone plug-in, and sustain button (things that apparently other more expensive keyboards don't necessarily have). It also just sounds good, and the upkeep is so much easier than a real piano. I have found myself playing most days, which is awesome since I haven't consistently had access to a piano since I was a child. I think I read a review somewhere that there's a metronome setting---not sure. There's so many buttons I haven't even learned yet. Finally, the amount of pressure that you have to put on the keys is very comfortable---I've played many pianos where the pressure to apply to keys was very awkward, so I had to push them so hard that...

It works! -- First keyboard I've found for that price that does.
I have purchased several portable inexpensive keyboards only to find that software bugs render them unusable -- they don't sound the notes that are being played. This one does work properly! No usb port, somewhat cheap feel and sound but perfectly good for carrying around and teaching on.

Can this really be Casio?
My first keyboard was a Casio. My brother bought it for me when I was 12. It was little more than a 24 note toy, but it was mine and I was proud to own it. As I grew into my music and more serious about performing, I became jaded and picky about my instruments. Casio had a well earned reputation for being cheap, low end starter boards. The most expensive keyboard I ever owned was a Yamaha DX7 FD. Until now, I never owned a full sized, 88 note keyboard, let alone, a keyboard with realistic action.Enter the Casio PX-130.Exit all my preconceptions about Casio.Look and Feel: I love the classic, uncluttered look of the instrument. It has minimal buttons and lights. There is no screen. It first and foremost wants to be a piano. It succeeds. It will look right at home in a studio, a church, or a living room. As for feel, when playing, I have to remind myself that it is not an acoustic. My fingers are convinced that these keys are attached to...

Absolutely Amazing
There are several excellent reviews already, so I'll try to make this short, and will focus on the specific reasons I bought this keyboard.First, let me say that I've been playing piano for 32 years. 14 of those years I played professionally (as in, I got paid to play; nothing too fancy, but I'm just trying to establish some credibility as a musician). I've played several hundred different pianos and keyboards over the years. I own, in fact, an Alesis QS8 keyboard, which was a phenomenal keyboard when it came out 12-13 years ago, and is still in use and highly sought after today. However, the thing must be made of bricks. And the hard shell case needed to protect it weighs a ton too. And, the amp that you have to take with you everywhere you go wasn't too light either. I found myself missing opportunities to play at times because I just didn't want to lug everything around. So, I started looking for a lighter keyboard, and I came across the PX-130. I...

An Eye-opener
I studied piano for about 10 years when I was younger. 20 years later I decided to take it back up again and went looking for a digital piano that I could live with. I found the Casio PX-130. No, as anybody will tell you, it's not the same as a "real" piano. If you're buying a digital piano thinking you'll get a baby grand in an oblong box, you're kidding yourself. What you will get for your money with this piano, however, is a fantastic digital piano for the price, so let's talk about that.1. The action of this piano is constantly surprising to me with how natural and responsive it feels. It does not feel like a "keyboard" instead, it has the feel of some of the less hammer-y Japanese pianos I've played or a Rhodes that is in good shape.2. Touch response on this piano is good. It is not great but it is definitely "good." No digital instrument is going to be able to reproduce the level of dynamic response which even a cheap piano can make, so...

Incredible value/ Awesome product...
I did a lot of research before choosing this keyboard. I looked at it at Fry's Electronics store but they only had the "demonstrator" and it was VERY, VERY used! Due to it's condition, they offered me the "killer" deal of a whopping 5% discount! I went to Amazon.com and found the exact same Yamaha model but, unlike the one at Fry's, the one from Amazon.com included a power adapter, a nice set of stereo headphones, AND a sturdy, adjustable stand...all at the same price. The value was incredible. The keyboard itself was awesome. I've played at playing the piano and various keyboards for over 50 years...always as a relaxing pastime and never devoting the time and practice needed to get "good". This Yamaha YPG-235 makes me GOOD! The built in styles, "voices", effects, etc., coupled with the ability to upload thousands of other sounds from the Internet via the built in USB port which connects it to your PC makes this the most advanced and awesome sounding instrument I've ever seen...

Replacement seems to work well
I received this keyboard on 2/2/11. As always, I was impressed with how quickly I received my order from Amazon.com. However, within minutes of setting up the keyboard, I noticed that two keys on the right side of the keyboard didn't work. One key simply didn't work AT ALL, and one key seemed to have a short and would only play after pressing it like 3 or 4 times in a row. Amazon is making it easy to return/exchange this keyboard, so I'm hopeful that the replacement is decent. However, after this experience and reading other reviews online of this exact problem, I am very concerned about the build quality of this keyboard, despite having heard good things over the years about Yamaha.I'll update this review after I receive the replacement in a week or so. Hopefully I won't have to switch to another brand, but Casio maybe the next one I look at (need to keep this purchase affordable).UPDATE: I received a replacement keyboard in record time: less than 2...

cheap piano substitute
Not bad. I'm pretty happy with the piano. Glad I got it, and would definitely buy it again. A few complaints to consider, but keep in mind I still rated it 4 stars. I'm just being picky here.Keys: very little resistance, therefore does not feel like a piano. Also, I have the impression the keys are narrower than piano keys. While this is not mathematically true, I still have that feeling. And when you're talking about fingers, feeling matters. I think the low resistance contributes to this. You can depress a key just by the side of your finger catching it. Now all this is not to say you can't learn. It's analogous to the difference between typing on a laptop keyboard and a full keyboard. The cogno/psycho/senso/motor skill totally translates over, you just have to get used to a different feel. The transition will seem disproportionately rough, but once you get used to it you will go back and forth fine, and practice on one will appreciate on the other.Range: You...

Great Piano for the Price!
I purchased this digital piano because the one I had was out of date. And because I teach piano online and needed something that sounded like a real piano. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The difference between the old Roland and this new Casio is like night and day!The touch is fantastic. The piano sound is fantastic. And since I really only need the piano sound, that was of primary importance to me.If you've been wary of buying this because of the 'Casio' name, put your worries to rest. Casio is to digital pianos as to what Samsung now is to television. They're now poised to become the #1 resource. My recommendation? Buy it before the price goes up.

Excellent budget digital piano.
We were on a tight budget when we bought this a couple of years ago, at Costco for CDN$799. Our son was 4, and we were getting ready to enrol him in lessons. I did not play piano growing up, but I can play many other instruments, and have played professionally in bars for 23 years. My main goals were to get something that would:1) approximate the feel of a real piano. = does a very good job. The weighted keys respond nicely to speed and pressure. You can play loud or soft, with no buzz. There is some mild 'clunking' on some of the keys, but I've noticed that on real pianos. I would NOT say that the touch is the SAME as a real piano, but it's close.2) approximate the sound of a real piano. = I think the sound is excellent. One of the only ways I notice a difference is that it's so homogeneous in volume and tone and tuning that it couldn't be real. It's also great to be able to say to my son "Can you turn that down a bit, please? We're trying to...

A great digital piano for apartment living
I missed playing piano since moving into my new apartment, but wanted something that would give me the experience of playing on an acoustic piano - weighted keys, and a more substantial, 'furniture-y' appearance than just a keyboard. This piano was a fantastic deal, with lots of features and the very necessary headphone capability for apartment living. Most importantly, the sound of the piano is very good, even coming from past experiences on grand pianos - it sounds like an acoustic upright. The resonance of the higher notes is better than that of the much lower, but it's not very noticeable when playing.Came with clear instructions. Assembly took two people and over 30 minutes. Once assembled, however, it's difficult to move the piano, so keep that in mind when you're getting it set up. Also, the included bench is built like a rock but is still comfortable.Overall, I'm thrilled with this purchase. I'm not sure what other extra features you get for the...
