Very nice
This was the first didgeridoo I have played on, and as a tuba player I found it very easy to play. My only complaint was that the product said nothing about the mouthpiece being part of the instrument (which it is), and since a commonly paired product was the pvc mouthpiece, I assumed it was necessary and ordered that at the same time. If you don't buy the unnecessary mouthpiece though, it is an excellent deal!

Nice, inexpensive Didgeridoo
This is a very good instrument for the money. It's well made and easy to play. Several posters mentioned the mouthpiece, so I thought it would be helpful to others to clarify this. This Didgeridoo does not come with a "mouthpiece". You can certainly play it without one, but will get better results with one. Traditionally, beeswax is used to create a better seal between the player's mouth and the instrument. You can get decent beeswax (1.5 oz) for about $6 from an art supply store. I found some at my local hardware store (2 oz) for under $2. There are a number of sites that explain how to add the beeswax to your Didgi. I supposed you could also use a rubber mouthpiece for a PVC Didgeridoo, but I prefer the wax route myself.

Very Good value for a beginning Didge.
This didge is attractive and fun. The one I received matches the picture above.Besides producing a quirky, but relaxing and surprisingly pleasant drone -- playing a didge might actually improve the quality of your health and lengthen your life. (Just do a google search for the British Medical Journal, sleep apnea, randomized trial, didgeridoo). If you want to explore what didge playing might do for you, this model is an excellent value, lightweight and carries a quite decent sound.Sleep apnea, or pauses in breathing during your sleep, IS dangerous. These pauses means less oxygen to vital organs and an accumulation of carbon dioxide which can make you drowsy and confused the next day. It can be a silent force that imperils kidneys, hearts, lungs, raises blood pressure and even makes the effort to lose weight much tougher.Unfortunately media reports and some sleep centers have insufficiently communicated the full range of dangers associated with...

Great Beginner Didge
I purchased the Meinl bamboo didge for my daughter. Even though it wasn't easy to play - I was hooked. I would give it a average rating for playability and sound. On a whim, I decided to purchase the synthetic didge for myself and was surprised by how easy it was to play. It also has a nice resonant and deep drone. I have played with experienced players who have authentic Australian wooden didges and the sound of this didge blended nicely. They were surprised by the resonance and volume (both being far beyond the muted sound of the bamboo didge). It is made of a thinner PVC material than some other mfg. synthetic didges. After four months of regular use, it has held up. I would highly recommend this didge for beginners and folk looking for a lightweight inexpensive didge.

Excellent Quality & Design
I ordered this for my 17 year old and we were both pleasantly surprised with the quality of this instrument. I'm not a didgeridoo expert by any means, but the sound quality seems exceptional on this piece. Very happy with the value for the price.

Great value for the beginner!
Wow a seller of a plastic didjeridu who tells you what the didjeridu is made of rather than vague references like, "durable materials." A little truth in advertising goes a long ways! This is a remarkable package for the price. You get a carry bag (pretty attractive one at that) and a full CD with Video. And the learning material is pretty inclusive, enough so to keep you learning well past the initial huffs and puffs!

Customer Review

My didgeridoo, mates
This may not be the most expensive instrument, but for a beginner it is just fine. I bought this because I have sleep apnea and there was a recent German study which noted improvement in people after six months of daily half-hour sessions didgeridooing. You really have to buy a book of instructions with the instrument so that you can have full benefit. Oddly, even though it is a wind instrument, it has aspects which remind you of percussion. Didgeridoos range all the way up in price to the thousands of dollars if made by native Australians...so this is just fine for me. Of course, if they ask me to play at Carnegie Hall, I will consider a more costly toot.

Good value
If you are a picky buyer or want your instrument in impeccable condition, I would suggest verifying return and exchange policy. We are very pleased with our purchase and the didgeridoo is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we did notice a small scratch on the upper part, where the paint is also a little removed. We also received it with lots of dust, it would have been nice for it to be clean.Art work is beautiful and looks like it it does on the picture. :)

Didgeridoo

Didgeridoo for Beginners The Didgeridoo is a wind instrument originated by indigenous Australians. There are many different ways to produce rhythms on the didgeridoo other than the basic drone (which entails puffing your cheeks and pushing your lips out, allowing them to vibrate, thus making a low-pitched buzzing sound). Due to its combination of unique sound and versatility in a variety of musical styles, modern-day musical generes including celtic and ska have incorporated the didgeridoo. Check out how this didgeridoo player uses a variety of contrasting rhythms to create this unique sound:. Today the didgeridoo is made out of an assortment of materials, including bamboo wood, teak wood, and even synthetic materials such as PVC , glass, and fiberglass. The didgeridoo is played by breathing into the instrument with continuously vibrating lips. Usually cylindrical or conical, the modern-day didgeridoo can measure anywhere from 3 to 10 ft. long, although they’re most often about 4 ft. long.

What I did was add to it using brass parts that I either bent around a large round post (the round harp-like part), or machined parts from a solid block of brass (the tuning peg mount. Yes, you can weld brass if you use this rod, but have to keep the heat just hot enough to melt the rod. I played it as a didgeridoo before thinking of adding strings, etc. then clear-coated it. I also made another one with one string called a DIJBOW:. I'm glad you like it. It's embarrassing to admit that this thing sat in my closet for 8 years before I decided to pull it out (because I'm performing with it at Maker Faire this year.
