Good instrument for beginners.
Pro:1) Good mechanical assembly, lacquer and overall quality.2) Convenient packaging.Cons:1) Original mouthpiece is really hard to play. I had to buy new one "Selmer Golden Tone 3" which is really nice to play.2) The tone is not uniform in all registers. This problem can be partially compensated by mastering playing skill. This is excellent instrument for its price. I remove one star because of mouthpiece but it is rather individual.

I still need to find out if there are saxophone versions of Wonder, Wonder Improved, Wonder Perfected and/or Perfected Wonder. So, the current breakdown is:. No Mercedes-Benz keyguard: 1888 to 1890 (say, s/n 1-50) Mercedes-Benz keyguard, single-side bell keys: 1890-1893 (say, s/n 50 to 300) Split-bell-key, original-style G# cluster: 1893-1898 (say, s/n 300 to 3000) I... Split-bell-key, “Buescher-style” G# cluster: 1898-1904 (say, s/n 3000 to 9000) Split-bell-key, unified octave key mechanism: 1905-1910 (say, s/n 9000 to 17800) New Invention, late 1910-. That Conn did have some New Invention saxophones available WITH the Wonder line after 1911. Another Wonder name I found in research was “Victor,” which seems to have been applied to some New Wonder brasswinds. The original series of Conn instruments, up until 1910, were called “Wonder” models. com — which was to correct myself in calling the Virtuoso Deluxe-finished horns “Perfected Wonder” — and the mention on saxophone. ) I’m still waiting for Mr. Overton to comment on how he dated the New Invention catalog on saxophone. I say this because I saw a few inconsistencies in the design of some saxophones post-1910. I will look at actual saxophones from around this time to see what the actual physical or cosmetic differences are.
If anyone has a parts horn with this key that they'd be willing to sell off of it I'd be interested in purchasing it. Not looking to buy a full parts horn, just the one key, and if possible the post and screw (although those additional parts are... I jumped on it a little to quickly thinking I had the needed part on a parts horn, but now realize that my parts horn is a bit older and it isn't the exact same key.
C melody saxophones are otherwise called the neglected children of the sax family. Their golden era was during the 1920s. Buescher, Conn, King, Martin and Selmer all built C melodies along with sopranos, altos, tenors, and baritone saxophones.
