The best in it's price range and beyond
At the time of this writing I have only owned this guitar for 6 days. It is still brand new, it still needs to be 'broken in', heck even the strings have not matured yet and let me tell you, this guitar is just plain wonderful. It is very hard to put down.It does look beautiful, it is very well made and yes even the gig bag is of great quality and offers a lot of protection...all good qualities but that is not why I bought this guitar.I asked my wife to join me to the local GC, quite early, before everyone else arrived really. She has a very good ear and I wanted her opinion on a classical guitar, it was not my intention to buy a guitar that day, at all.I started with some higher priced guitars, $700 - $1000 range. Fine guitars on their own, no complaints. I wanted to pay a more expensive guitar because I needed to know what a really good clssical guitar sounds and feels like.My wife simply grabbed guitars of the wall and handed them...

Wonderful guitar. I simply love it.
I am extremely happy with my Cordoba C5 guitar. Beautiful sound (cedar top), great playability (low action). Esthetically, it's really beautiful (great combination of woods--cedar top and mahogany back and sides). One more thing: it came with a gig bag. I thought I would probably have to buy a better one but, when I received it, I was happily surprised by the quality of the gig bag: thick padding, 2 shoulder straps to carry it on your back, 2 handles to carry it horizontally, and 1 handle to hold it vertically. The Cordoba gig bag is of much better quality than the one shown on the amazon website. Since I received my Cordoba C5, I have been playing it every day with great pleasure. I simply love my guitar.

best. purchase. ever.
I conducted my guitar search blind to price (double-blind really, the guitars didn't know how much they cost either). This guitar was the most playable (low action, standard neck dimensions), had no buzz on any string/fret combination, and has an unimaginable tone that projects like no other guitar that I've played. I'm not sure what to call the opposite of buyers remorse, but months later, I still can't put this guitar down and I revel daily in the memory of its bargain price.Cordoba has a customer for life.

The Best Compilation of the Man on 2 Discs! Great Sound Quality Too!
The title very aptly describes this great classical guitar album showcasing some of the best ever works of John Williams on 2 discs. The track selections are great as they span the centuries from the Baroque greats of Bach and Vivaldi to the modern day composers such as Stanley Myers and York. John even flirts with Blues and Jazz-style pieces and they actually sound very good. In addition, they did a much better mastering job on this version than on the single disc, "Classic John Williams" album that was released a few years earlier and so the sound quality is much better. John Williams' playing is without peer and his technique is superior to the vast majority of the exponents of classical guitar that are out there. I've heard recordings of many others who have tried to play "Cavatina" for example and they have never come close to the natural and flowing version that John plays. If you are a fan of this type of music or of John Williams' work, this is the best compilation that...

A little something for everybody
First, this is gorgeous guitar playing by someone who knows what he's doing. John Williams (not to be confused by the film score composer of the same name) is a superb classical guitarist. Many of these pieces are *classical* in nature, while a few are more *popular*. Many are solo, the rest in small chamber groups. Some will get your toes tapping, some will start you daydreaming, and some will make you cry with their beauty. All of it is magnificent.

Superb. Definitely recommended to lovers of classical guitar.
After nearly wearing out favorite CDs of Christopher Parkening and Segovia, I gave this John Williams collection a spin. I love the choice of tracks--some beautiful newer pieces in addition to crisp, lovely interpretations of several favorites (Asturias, La Vida Breve, Concierto de Aranjuez--you know, the ones everyone plays). He also fit in three Charlie Byrd blues tracks that, though not my favorites, work surprisingly well. William's playing is so clean and expressive--melodies ring out clearly, never belabored. Very pleasureful listening. Guess I'll be wearing this one out too...

Great Collection for the Price
This album is a great collection of Spanish-style classical guitar pieces. The first few tracks contain music from a full or partial orchestra to accompany the guitar, but the rest of the tracks are strictly classical guitar with no accompanying instruments. I am giving this four out of five stars because I was expecting some faster paced songs, and much of the music in this collection is very mellow and quiet -- which is still good, just not what I was hoping for.

I currently own 4 guitars - a Fender Stratocaster electric, a Rogue Dreadnaught, a Fender GD0 200 acoustic, and a Yamaha C40 classical acoustic.This Yamaha was the first guitar I owned, 8 years ago, so I might be biased. But it is a beautiful classical guitar, with the standard 3 metal string and 3 nylons. Since it is a classical, it has a wider fretboard than other acoustics or electrics, which is great if you are just learning and still are clumsily touching neighboring strings with your left hand and making buzzing noises.After about a year of use, the strings began to resonate differently so I changed them, but that was due to wear and tear, not any defect in the strings.This guitar is very high quality and 8 years later is as good as new. The pegs continue to hold the strings in tune, the rich tone is still the same. I highly recommend it and am deeply satisfied with mine. The best classical guitar that you can buy for the money
I've played the guitar all of my life and have several Yamaha classical guitars. These are the only nylon-string guitars that are I will buy and that are worth buying.Yamaha classical guitars are the best inexpensive high quality classical guitars that you can purchase. I've bought several other brands of classical guitars in the past but always end up selling them. I always keep the Yamahas.If you research classical guitars on the Internet, you will find that Yamaha brand is the best classical guitar that you can buy for the money. They are not hand crafted like the more expensive brands but who cares? They are made by a computer controlled machine to exact tolerances. They play just as great as one made by a craftsman. Sure there are more expensive classical guitars out there but why pay more for same thing that you can buy cheaper? Especially when it is easy to play and sounds great.

Better than I hoped for.
After moving recently, I discovered my Fender classical guitar to be cracked in transit. It never would stay in tune and I pretty much stopped playing guitar altogether after the disappointment, even after being a lifetime guitar player.Scanning through Amazon.com the other day, I happened to come across this Yamaha C40 classical guitar and saw that it was on a really great sale: $144.95, ya can't beat that! After contacting my wife (i.e. the boss :)), I was surprised to hear her say that she had missed hearing me play and sing. I ordered the guitar Wednesday afternoon and BOOM! The best basic classical guitar method book, period
I love this book. It offers excellent, straightforward instruction for the beginning classical guitarist, whether an experienced guitarist in other forms or someone who has never picked up the instrument before. The author, Paul Henry, moves along at an easy, but progressive pace that keeps things varied and interesting. He offers just enough rudimentary instruction to get you started, but without the material ever becoming overly pedantic and boring. I've been learning guitar for a few months and had waded through the Hal Leonard Method Book 1 with the assistance of an instructor, but I've been on my own for a while since I decided to throw my picks away and concentrate on the classical guitar. I've acquired copies of practically every classical guitar method book ever published, and have found some, especially those by Frederick Noad, Christopher Parkening, and Scott Tennant to be particularly good. Excellent! Frustration-free instruction for an absolute beginner!
I am completely new to classical guitar (and note reading!). I purchased this book after a friend mentioned that Hal Leonard had the best guitar instruction books out there. I was not disappointed in the least. The clarity of the instruction and the overall pace of the book is spot on. The book has a way of allowing you to move at your own pace without letting you feel bored or stuck. For example, it provides a number of pieces for you to practice what is being taught. It took me a few months to get through the entire book but it probably would have taken less time if I wasn't also a full-time college student. The lessons themselves are not wordy but they still somehow manage to convey the fundamentals and fine details of classical guitar technique. They address everything from finger dynamics to body posture. The practice pieces for each lesson are melodic and actually fun to play. They get more complex as you progress. Good Resource for Beginners
I spent the weekend going through most of this book. I am just a beginner myself. The lessons never move much from the first position. However the techniques emphazized in some of the pieces are definitely worth learning. And the CD that acompanies it is great as well. It makes some of the simplest pieces sound wonderful just by using correct technique and rythm. Much better than playing to a metronome at least in my opinion. I will probably spend a few weeks learning all the pieces in the last half of the book, and possibly refresh over it a few times in the coming months.I definitely liked this book it was just what I needed at this phase of my classical education.

Couldn't be happier with the purchase. Having played in my teen years, I was ready to pick Guitar up again at 35. I didn't want to spend a ton of money but I didn't want a toy either. I owned a Fender Squire Stratocaster in my younger years so I trusted the Fender name. At 100 bucks and free shipping, this seemed like the perfect medium. The guitar arrived ~3 business days after I ordered via Fedex. The size is absolutely perfect; I was expecting a much larger instrument being that it was classical, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually not massive at all. It was "just right". The finish is beautiful and the fret board is well crafted and smooth; however it does have that rosewood texture making it feel like a much more expensive instrument. The bag it comes with is also very well made. The strings are indeed nylon and the action is very manageable. You don't have to have a kung fu grip to play cords or notes. As a beginner, I had to think long and hard on what type of guitar would match my personal style and taste. I found that nylon strings were better suited to the sound I like, and as such, I went for the classical style of the guitar. From great things I had heard all my life from seasoned guitar players and the media, I knew that Fender was a brand that I simply could not go wrong with. I purchased this guitar as a second classical, wanted it in my office to pick up and plink now and then. The guitar has a great sound and great action, very nice when you consider the price your paying for the guitar and gig bag. One item of note is that unlike my yamaha classical guitar the neck is almost the exact same width as a regular steel string acoustic which I suppose if that is your normal instrument it could be an advantage, if you prefer the additional width than you may want to check on the yamaha classical which is a little more but very nice quality, I have had mine for 40 years. One of the issues expressed in some other post was the inability of the instrument to stay tuned, with nylon string instruments it is important (actually any stringed instrument) to check the tuning every time you play, when a classical guitar starts to hold tune for extended period of time you need to start considering changing the strings to keep a good tone. A cheap classical guitar could turn into a lifetime love of music. Many time its people that have given up on learning guitar and now they are trying to get at least some of their money back. I don’t recommend getting pre-owned guitar online without looking at it first. Personally I found that Amazon is one of the best places to get honest opinions from people about what they though of the guitar. I would never just buy a guitar from anyone, so make sure you have done your research and that you know you can trust these people. Just always keep finding new information about your guitar.
