Great concept
Bells like this are a great way of getting the gang together, when you're all spread out over a large property. Sure, adults probably have cell phones. But really, when you're home, does everyone really carry their phone all the time? And of course, kids below a certain age might not have cell phones at all. If your house/yard are bigger than 1000 square feet, why would you want to have to walk and/or yell all over the house/yard to try to assemble the gang?? We had a bell like this when I was a kid, and it worked great!This particular bell's strongest virtue is its low price. On the plus side, it's real iron, and seems reasonably sturdy. On the negative side, it's a bit crude, with rather rough casting quality, and bell harmonics that have more to do with economy than harmonics.but for the price, it's fine.

I bought this as a gift for someone, but when I checked it out, it was broken from shipping...it was poorly packaged and loose in box. Otherwise, it's nice for the money...

horse bell
I ordered a cast iron bell with a horse on top of it. It is lovely, but it arrived damaged. Part of the back section that you set against a post and then drill in the screws was completely broken off. I did not return it since we were able to mount it - we just drilled in the main section and set the broken section on the post and screwed it in. It may have gotten damaged during shipment. The box was not that sturdy and there wasn't very much packing materials inside the box to protect the item.
