Can this really be Casio?
My first keyboard was a Casio. My brother bought it for me when I was 12. It was little more than a 24 note toy, but it was mine and I was proud to own it. As I grew into my music and more serious about performing, I became jaded and picky about my instruments. Casio had a well earned reputation for being cheap, low end starter boards. The most expensive keyboard I ever owned was a Yamaha DX7 FD. Until now, I never owned a full sized, 88 note keyboard, let alone, a keyboard with realistic action. Enter the Casio PX-130. Exit all my preconceptions about Casio. Look and Feel: I love the classic, uncluttered look of the instrument. It has minimal buttons and lights. There is no screen. It first and foremost wants to be a piano. It succeeds. It will look right at home in a studio, a church, or a living room. As for feel, when playing, I have to remind myself that it is not an acoustic. My fingers are convinced that these keys are...

Absolutely Amazing
There are several excellent reviews already, so I'll try to make this short, and will focus on the specific reasons I bought this keyboard. First, let me say that I've been playing piano for 32 years. 14 of those years I played professionally (as in, I got paid to play; nothing too fancy, but I'm just trying to establish some credibility as a musician). I've played several hundred different pianos and keyboards over the years. I own, in fact, an Alesis QS8 keyboard, which was a phenomenal keyboard when it came out 12-13 years ago, and is still in use and highly sought after today. However, the thing must be made of bricks. And the hard shell case needed to protect it weighs a ton too. And, the amp that you have to take with you everywhere you go wasn't too light either. I found myself missing opportunities to play at times because I just didn't want to lug everything around. So, I started looking for a lighter keyboard, and I came across the PX-130...

An Eye-opener
I studied piano for about 10 years when I was younger. 20 years later I decided to take it back up again and went looking for a digital piano that I could live with. I found the Casio PX-130. No, as anybody will tell you, it's not the same as a "real" piano. If you're buying a digital piano thinking you'll get a baby grand in an oblong box, you're kidding yourself. What you will get for your money with this piano, however, is a fantastic digital piano for the price, so let's talk about that. 1. The action of this piano is constantly surprising to me with how natural and responsive it feels. It does not feel like a "keyboard" instead, it has the feel of some of the less hammer-y Japanese pianos I've played or a Rhodes that is in good shape. 2. Touch response on this piano is good. It is not great but it is definitely "good." No digital instrument is going to be able to reproduce the level of dynamic response which even a cheap piano can make, so...

Great Piano for the Price!
I purchased this digital piano because the one I had was out of date. And because I teach piano online and needed something that sounded like a real piano. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The difference between the old Roland and this new Casio is like night and day! The touch is fantastic. The piano sound is fantastic. And since I really only need the piano sound, that was of primary importance to me. If you've been wary of buying this because of the 'Casio' name, put your worries to rest. Casio is to digital pianos as to what Samsung now is to television. They're now poised to become the #1 resource. My recommendation? Buy it before the price goes up.

A great digital piano for apartment living
I missed playing piano since moving into my new apartment, but wanted something that would give me the experience of playing on an acoustic piano - weighted keys, and a more substantial, 'furniture-y' appearance than just a keyboard. This piano was a fantastic deal, with lots of features and the very necessary headphone capability for apartment living. Most importantly, the sound of the piano is very good, even coming from past experiences on grand pianos - it sounds like an acoustic upright. The resonance of the higher notes is better than that of the much lower, but it's not very noticeable when playing. Came with clear instructions. Assembly took two people and over 30 minutes. Once assembled, however, it's difficult to move the piano, so keep that in mind when you're getting it set up. Also, the included bench is built like a rock but is still comfortable. Overall, I'm thrilled with this purchase. I'm not sure what other extra features you get for the...

Very Pleased
I purchased the Casio AP220 about one month ago. My granddaughter had been using a Casio keyboard to practice her lesson, but had reached the point where she needed pedals to continue. Based on what I found online and at local music stores, this piano seemed to be the best in its price range. The Yamaha YDP141 has a slightly better look; however, both pianos have the same sound quality. I purchased the piano for $719 at a local music store that was having a 10% off sale. They charged $25 for delivery and setup.

Quality Construction, Lots of Features for the Money - UPDATED June 2011
After years of playing my Yamaha DGX-500, I was looking to upgrade my digital piano to something that had graded hammer action, that would look nice in my living room, and that sounded as close to an acoustic piano as possible. I also wanted to spend around a thousand bucks. The Casio AP420, seemed to fit the bill, and having played other Casio digital pianos in my local music store (PX800, PX330, AP200), I was fairly confident in making this purchase from Amazon, sight-unseen. The mangled box arrived in less than a week, looking like it had fallen off the truck or had been used for target practice. I was almost afraid to look inside. Fortunately, the engineers who designed the packaging did a marvelous job. Every piece was removed from the box in perfect condition. Assembly of the piano was not difficult, took less than an hour, and really did require two people. The cabinet of the AP420 is quite attractive. I like the sliding keyboard cover, and...

Best Value
To be brief, at $1000 range, this is the best digital piano one can get in 2010. Very well built. Feature-wise it matches $2000+ Yahama models. Yes the speakers are not ideal, as expected. But they are fully usable for beginners. With a set of earphone the sound is perfect.

it's a good purchase, would recommend
i don't play the digital music. i need a digital piano because i live in an apartment, this is easier to move, and i can wear headsets when playing in the middle of the night, and very important, it's affordable to me. i did some research about different brands of digital pianos. people are talking about yamaha is good. when talking about casio, the general review is that casio wasn't good before, but it's catching up fast these years. so i went down to couple of dealers to give it a try. considering the sound, key touch, price, i decided to buy this model. i tried another series, not celviano, from casio, even more expensive, but the touches is not as good as this one. and the sound is good at both low and high pitches. an equivalent model for yamaha is selling around 1800 + tax. i personally don't feel like spending 800$ for the brand. i do play acoustic pianos at school. i have to say that the key touch is still different. it cannot compare with the upright ones, and...

I love this keyboard
I was looking for a digital keyboard to complement my Roland Juno Stage. The Stage is a great live performance keyboard, but lacks a full keyboard, and doesn't replicate very well the action and weight of an acoustic piano keyboard. I researched a number of digital pianos before coming across several very positive reviews of the Px-130 and -330 pianos. In fact, everything I read was so positive that I decided to take a chance and purchase the px-330 sight unseen. I have had the 330 several days and I love it. The 330 is lightweight, but very solidly constructed. The keyboard itself, in my humble opinion, replicates the touch and sensitivity of an acoustic piano quite well. There are a variety of acoustic piano patches, which sound very, very good, even with the built in speakers, and even better using a pair of headphones (I haven't tried the keyboard with my Behringer keyboard amp yet, but I'm expecting very good results when I do. bottom line: I highly recommend this...

very nice for the price
I am a professional jazz pianist of some 30+ years. I recently bought this keyboard as a much needed gigging and practicing piano that was light weight, had built in speakers, 88 note key weighted action and a good piano sound. You will find all of this and more in the PX-330. I don't think there is any other keyboard currently being manufactured that provides all these features at this low a price point. Pros: - great weighted action... a bit mushy but one can certainly adapt to it easily. - good piano sound, but not without its faults (see below) It reminds me of the sound of the Kurzweil pianos. - auto arranger with tons of grooves for practicing and jamming. - good selection of song style presets... it even has "Giant Steps" for all you jazz pianists to practice on. Any tempo, Any key. - some interesting world beat grooves are included along with standard pop, rock, latin, etc. grooves - weighs only 25 lbs... this is...

Casio Privia PX330
This review is for the Casio Privia PX330: Overall I really like this keyboard for practicing quietly at night and for connecting to a computer. I've been playing it for about a month. Here are my thoughts so far: Key Touch Sensitivity: The Casio web site advertisement states: "authentic piano touch that captures every detail and nuance of your performance". If that is your expectation, you will probably be disappointed with this keyboard. I have compared the Casio with two pianos that I play regularly (a Yamaha Baby Grand and a Spinet) and the Casio falls short of both pianos in this area. The Casio keys feel harder to press and do not have the volume/pressure sensitivity or dynamic range of the real pianos. On the up side I will say that the Casio keyboard touch feels much better than other electronic keyboards I have tried in this price range and it also does a decent job of changing the volume depending upon how hard you press...

Good accessory
This pedal assembly attaches easily to the stand that is made for the keyboard and has a special plug that mates with a separate connection under the piano. I have two of the Privia PX 330s, one with the stand and this pedal attachment, the other on a portable stand with standard sustain pedal on the floor plugged into its own 1/4" jack, also on the keyboard. This pedal assembly is so much better because it has all three pedals and they don't slide around on the floor like the single sustain pedal I use on the other PX 330. This is a very clever solution for a keyboard you don't intend to take out a lot. The four screws that hold the keyboard to the stand have very fine threads so need lots of turning to loosen or tighten, and the special plug assembly for the pedals is under the keyboard and is also a bit tricky to remove and replace. So if you get the stand and the pedal assembly do so with a keyboard you intend to leave connected to the pedals and the stand most of the time.

Does the job, but disappointed with the quality
This pedal board is plastic. It is also a medium grey color, matching part of the px-130 keyboard. The board itself is much flimsier than I expected. What I was expecting was veneered or, foil covered particleboard, the same material that the sturdy stand is made of. Well, its not. It does look more finished than the sustain pedal attached to a cord, but when compared to the px-130 which exceeded my expectations in most regards, and the stand, which was pretty much the Ikea quality I expected, this pedal board underwhelmed. Also, the pedals are short and relatively difficult to depress. I used them with only socks on, and they weren't very comfortable to use, and not at all like a real piano. In shoes, they might be OK. Anyway, I won't return it, because that would be more trouble than its worth. I would give it 2.5 stars if that were possible, since I view it as between "It's OK" and "I don't like it" Nevertheless, the whole ensemble, keyboard, stand and board are nice...

Functional, but disappointing quality
This pedal board works and is designed to work work the PX-130 and the stand for the PX-130. But the quality is disappointing. The pedals themselves are heavy, reasonably attractive, and functional, but the board is made of light, cheap feeling plastic. It's basically the only choice for the PX-130 if you want to round out the unit with a stand and pedals, but I was choosing between several digital pianos, some of which had larger integrated cases, and the low build quality of this pedal board is another strike against the choice I made. Overall, I'm okay with the PX-130 with the CS67 stand and SP32 pedal board, but not really thrilled, and kind of wonder if I might have been better off had I picked one of my other options.

Customer Review

everything i needed
I am relatively new to non-piano keyboards but it was easy to assemble. and i'm not the most handy that way! The stand is slim but solid. The keys feel GREAT. It sounds like a piano, not something that wants to be a piano... love the headset option and i'm sure i will continue to enjoy it more as i discover all the cool features. It was nice to have the whole package... everything you need all in one. Super happy with this purchase. :-)

Very pleased; everything we wanted.
We've had this Casio digital piano now for about 3-4 months and are very pleased with it. We have an upright piano but wanted an electronic model with headphones so our 14 yr. old daughter could practice whenever she wished. Our home has an open floor plan so for her to play the piano, you can hear it throughout the house which is wonderful but also means if others are watching TV in different rooms or reading, etc. and desire quiet, it can be annoying. Plus, we homeschool so when her siblings were doing schoolwork, studying, testing, etc., she couldn't practice ... all of which was very limiting to her ... plus, we didn't like having to restrict her playing. With this digital model & the headphones, problem solved! She can play/practice at her whim and not disturb anything or anyone. The extra features are nice ... the metronome is handy, the various sound options are fun to experiment with & the weighted 88-keys are just want her piano teacher advised to get. It looks very nice...

Great Product
This is a great item for those that are starting to play piano or who want to get back into it (which applies to me). Love that it has the pedals just like the piano I had growing up. The headphones are great, especially since I live in an apartment complex and sometimes get the itch to practice at night. Easy to assemble together. Overall great product for the price.
