Great value
A huge improvement over the beginning model clarinets students are given. I got one in 2000 and I have no complaints. I had been a student for six years, and the ease of playing compared to my old model was remarkable. It gave me a great boost of confidence in my playing, and friends who tried it could also clearly hear the difference in their own playing. Although I haven't been playing as much the past couple years, I have had no problems with wear and tear and the sound keeps getting better (even if the musician doesn't). :) I bought mine in a shop where they let me try a couple other models, a Yamaha and Vito of similar quality, and this one blew those two out of the water and was almost $200 cheaper at the time. I would recommend this for anyone who has a couple years experience playing and wants to kick it up a notch.

I love this horn
I love my E11. I've had it since October 2001 and it has served me well. I have not had a single problem with it and it has held up well.Great buy and the price on this site is unbeatable for this specific horn.

Fine Instrument
I got this clarinet back in high school, when it was obvious I was "outgrowing" my beginner plastic clarinet from Selmer. I majored on clarinet in college, and this lady was with me all the way. Updated with a more advanced mouthpiece (Gigliotti P-facing), I was principal clarinetist for my college's symphonic band for the two years I majored in music.Then I put it down for a while. Thirteen years later, I picked it up again to play in a community orchestra. I had to "downgrade" my mouthpiece because I had lost my chops, but with a Fobes Nova, I still get beautiful, full sound out of this instrument.In my tenure as a music major, tutor, section leader and band assistant, I have played on many models of clarinet, granted, mostly student models. I'm always glad to get my hands back on my lady. I shall never part with her.You wouldn't want to spend the money for this clarinet for a beginner, but when your beginner has progressed and is ready to...

FAR better than the cheap one I tried first.
I bought one of these (used) to try to save some money. I initially had bought one of the $100 brands. Once I got this in, I quickly opted to return the cheaper brand. This one plays so well, makes me want to save up for the E11!Overall, I am very pleased by spending more on the Buffet compared to the lower cost brand. I am slowly learning that price reflects quality without doubt in musical instruments. Being new to teaching myself 2 instruments, I had been lured into the lower prices at first and quickly regretted it. Go with Buffet and add some Vandoren reeds (I tried both Vandoren and Rico). You will not be sorry for spending the extra money for the quality.

I've always been a fan of Buffet clarinets. I currently play a Buffet BC1193 and it's served me well over the years.Parts are easily accessible should you need repair, this is a reputable brand, it is durable, and if you take good care of it, you can interchange parts (bell, barrel, mouthpiece) to achieve a better tone quality as the student gets to high school.

Great for beginners, low budget, or marching band members
I purchased a Buffet B12 student clarinet 10 years ago to play for fun on the side (I was in high school band as a flute player). It has held up wonderfully. I've never had a repair other than replacing pads (which is typical for any woodwind instrument with pads). I gave this clarinet a 4 simply because it is a beginner instrument since it is made of plastic, but for that it is high quality with a decent tone quality.This clarinet is also a great purchase for clarinet players in a marching band that hesitate to take their wooden clarinet to games/practice etc. It is certainly good enough to play in a marching band without such a great concern for dropping it or having it be rained as you would with a more expensive, high end clarinet.

Choosing between the E11 France and the Bliss 210
I was looking to upgrade my teenage son's Buffet student clarinet. After some research on the web, I short-listed the E11 France and the Bliss 210. Got my son to try them in a local shop and he immediately fell for the E11 France. He said it's nicer to blow and that the action is a bit more fluid. I was also warmed to the E11's tone and its finish. He's had it for a month now and still feels very excited every time he sets it up for practice. I have since found out that the Bliss 210 required bore oil and the mouthpiece that came with it isn't very good.Glad to have made the right choice.

Can you believe it ? I saved more than $300.I live in Texas, and my local music instrument store offers me$400 higher. Great instrument!!
R 13's are the zenith choice for both intermediate players as well as professionals. Amazon selling these instruments kindof gives me an uneasy feeling, because they don't specialize in instrument selling, unlike websites such as wwbw.com, and do not do play tests for optimal performance. any musician should understand that the instrument of this high caliber should be the best of the bunch that they get, and amazon should seek ways to improve selling the best instruments

Great Clarinet
The Buffet R13 is a fine clarinet. Recently I bought a Buffet E11 from Weiner Music, and was delighted at the quality of the intermediate level E11. I didn't have to return it, it sounded wonderful. So I decided to indulge myself (having played clarinet for 40 years), and purchased the R13. It plays very nicely, keys are placed just right for my fingers, and the tone is beautiful. I have to admit I use an expensive mouthpiece (Clarke W Forbes, San Francisco) so the tone is big and classical. The mouthpiece is the most important part of the clarinet. Weiner Music service was excellent. In addition, the R13's case is beautiful, roomy, and top quality. It also comes with two keys for the locks on the case. Moreover, resale value of the R13 is always high. An excellent investment.
