Good value
My son plays the bassoon, so this review is based upon what he has told me. He prefers this brand over any other brand I have bought for him. They seem to last longer as well. The ones I buy at the music store break pretty quickly, but this brand lasts several months of constant use. He told me he likes the texture of the reed better, and he feels it is easier to get a more consistent sound out of it. For me, the price is a plus too. Bassoon reeds are expensive, and this one is a bargain.

My son just started bassoon and every local store carries these for about $5 more. Thanks Amazon!

Nice solid case for my reeds
Great case for my reeds. Closes well and I feel my reeds are well protected even when travelling by plane (and it is rolling around in my suitcase). Price is fair and craftsmanship is good.

They could have told us about the logo...
The case is well built, and looks to have very sturdy construction. The reeds fit comfortably, and it looks to be a very good selection for the money. I only wish that they showed more than one picture of this case on Amazon, or otherwise told us that the front of the case has a large, gold, shiny Hodge logo. If you want a plain black case, this isn't the one for you. It isn't a huge deal for me, but it feels intentionally dishonest to avoid showing the logo and to not mention it at all.

Band teacher, not a bassoon player but...
I order reeds from amazon all the time. I am trying to recruit some bassoon players so a bought these, one for me to demonstrate and one for a student to learn on. I can't speak to the fine points of bassoon reeds but these were cheap and played very easily. 5 star for beginners and value.

Chatier Bassoon Read
I was very happy when I received the reed as quicklyas I did. Good job!My daughter is just learning how to play the bassoon and was happy to get it. She said it worked well for her but it did crack after a couple of weeks. I thinkit was because she was soaking it too much and not drying it correctly.I can't complain too much since I don't know too muchabout this kind of thing.

What I used to do (and still sometimes do when Im doing something different with shape or cane or something) is scrape a tiny bit of bark, just the smooth surface, off the area between the first and second wire, then write a number, or...
