Customer Review

Great Design!
I've been watching this case ever since SKB announced it was going to be available. I have a custom built road case for my baritone sax that has served me well and protected my case on the road and from airport "gorillas". But problems with a hernia prompted my search for a lighter case that could do the job. A teacher friend of mine got one for his school and I was very impressed. The handles are well placed to balance the case. It is able to hold a bari sax with or without the low A configuration. There is ample room to put supplies. The weight of the case with my Yamaha bari is about the same as my old case empty! My old bones are liking this new case.

This is a great case. Not quite as well made as the Bam case but clearly a step up from the other cases in this price range. I highly recommend this case to anyone who needs a case for an affordable pice.

Customer Review

Relieves neck strain!
This product was purchased for my child at the suggestion of the music teacher. After switching from an alto saxophone to a baritone saxophone, the neck strap just didn't cut it. This strap fits comfortably around the shoulders and distributes the weight of the much heavier sax. With no neck strain, there are longer practice sessions and less complaining. All of which equals sweet music to my ears!

difficult to adjust but a good
I had pain in my neck with the standard neck strap, so I bought a harness. The strap is difficult to adjust and get the horn in the correct position, but after messing with the two adjustment points fro about 10-15 min., I got it set up right. Other than that, it's solved my neck pain problem and I can play without discomfort. A good buy.

does relieve neck strain but an odd fit for women
Nice idea and it does feel better than using a neck strap. However, it is pretty awkward as a woman (and I am not even busty woman, either!). I will use this for practice at home, but will stick with my neck strap in public!!

The Best I've Found
I've been playing saxophone professionally for over 40 years and have owned virtually every brand of stand during that time. This is absolutely the best I've encountered along the way! It is built like a tank, is easily adjustable and folds into a very handy size, especially for a baritone stand. I also own the alto/tenor models and like them just as much. I would highly recommend the Hercules brand. This model accommodates both low A and Bb models. These folks know what a professional musician needs!

Extremely well made item
This stand is very sturdy and a quality item and is a good value. One thing that is not obvious from the description is that their are only two height adjustments, the sliding square rod has a hole at the top and the bottom and you have those two choices with the locking lever. The rest, on the other hand, is fully adjustable and will lock in any position. I am sure the designers made it this way to guarantee that the height adjustment will not slide under any weight. If I had to pick another nit, the foam that holds the bell has a gap in it, unlike the foam on the rest. These are all minor points, however. This is a very secure and heavy stand and I am very impressed.

Seems to be a good stand
I've had this stand for a couple of months, now. This seems to be a good stand, and I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. The stand feels well built and sturdy. I don't have a fear that it may tip over easily and I have ordered an alto/tenor Hercules that should be here next week. I guess that's a pretty good endorsement. It may replace my Hamilton, which I've used for many, many years, and I plan on writing a review for the alto/tenor stand after using it for a couple of months.I have found only two negatives with it, and they are fairly minor. The part that the bottom of the bell rests against moves every time you pack up the stand so that you have to re-position it the next time you set it up. The other thing is that the spring pins that you push in to release the various folding parts are sometimes a bit stiff and you need to really push on them to get them to release.I'll provide my own counterpoint:Let me say, though, that...

But once the baritone takes hold, it’. Basile has also played with the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars big band, tenor saxophonist Jimmy Heath’. And Rob occasionally subs in the Vanguard band, and we toured Taiwan together with the Vanguard band. d make a good baritone saxophonist. s hard to explain the attraction of the baritone sax. s jazz program in New York, and he began the long and tough transition to becoming a professional jazz player in the Big Apple. Just ask Frank Basile, a New York baritonist who’. s big band and drummer Dennis Mackrel’. ll be a guest when the Boulevard Big Band performs at 6 p. m. Sunday at Nica’. Also, Gary Smulyan from the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra is an important and strong influence on me, and he’. s less gigs for the bari, but if people like your playing, you’. That gave Basile, now 33, a career boost that’. t on Basile’. ve been able to do small-group things with Rob, but it’. s almost a regular in the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra because its regular bari man, Gary Smulyan, is in such heavy demand.

The band took the stage first with the lead trumpeter and the baritone saxophonist helping to warm the crowd along with a tenor sax, second trumpet, three percussionists, drummer, bassist, two guitarists and a keyboardist (the only musician... I was lucky to have a spot in front of the stage with Seun just a few feet to my right, a guitarist in front of me and the two women a few feet away. Mona Golub brought Femi Kuti – his son with his first and only legal wife – to Albany’s Washington Park back in 2002, and now Fela’s youngest son, 30-year-old Seun Kuti, was in Hudson to share the intensity of Afrobeat. Throughout the performance the lead trumpeter would continue to come up front to solo and occasionally so too would the baritone sax player, but it was mostly Seun’s show. The guitarist in front of me took his first solo of the night, since so much of the groove is built on layers – Seun soloing or playing ensemble parts with the other four horns. They wore dreads piled high on their heads and beads around their hair and necks, but what was most striking about the two barefoot women were some 30 white beads that seemed to be embedded in their skin in an elliptical shape around their eyes... He hit them with two sticks or one stick and his palm, and occasionally he would sit on a large four-foot conga with a massive head and use sticks eight times the usual thickness. That concert featured a 20-piece band with five women dancing and five more singing, mostly made up of his 27 wives.

I can't even begin to name all the groups I've performed with (Billy Barnett, Buffalo Bob, Rich McDonough, Jimmy Lee Kennet, Alabaster Brown, Spacey Nooner, Blue Fusion, and on and on)but typically if I've performed with a group once- I get an... Profecient in classical, jazz(real books), blues, funk, fusion- you name it I can play it. I spent 7 years on the road with a blues band out of K. C. touring the midwest right out of college. While I don't mind being a gig player, I'd like to be more involved with a group again that has a regular paying performance schedule.
